Seriously don't eat the food is expensive and barily eatable (at best). The food just isn't very good but the beer is cold and the music is fun. If you are in the neighborhood and looking for a little music in a laid back place...More

The 10 $ minimum is totally understandable considering the music. Food was really good but the music and the drinks is what makes it standout. Highly recommended if u want to have a fun night out with friends.

All the reviews I've read here are complaining about the food and service. I'm not going to disagree, but I do have a suggestion, go into your Cleopatra's Needle experience knowing that the food and service are only so-so, but that it's still a really...More

Cleopatra's Needle has a great Open Mic on Wednesday nights. I got to sing with two bands - Leo Kurtz' band - standards but really any jazz - starts the evening, with Joonsam Lee's hard driving beebop group coming in around 10pm. Both are top...More

If you want to hear some really good jazz for the price of a drink, this is the place! There is no cover charge and only a $10 minimum. The food is nothing special - basic "Mediterranean style" not bad, but rather bland. However, I...More

We met up with some friends who live in New York and ate here. It was a lovely place, the atmosphere was great, the musicians were incredible, as was the music, and the food was good food!

Failure. Probably. Great local bar with live jazz but do NOT visit for a meal. Over priced, horrible service and crap atmosphere. Go in, grab a drink and enjoy the music but don't expect anything more.

The failure is your prejudice attitude and your crab review.

Cleopatra's Needle, named after the famed monument in New York's Central Park, is a world-renowned New York hot spot known for serving up food, drinks and hot live jazz to the New York jazz community. Our original cuisine has been featured on TV Food Network's "$40 a day", and we offer the best of New York's live jazz scene, with no cover charge. Our famed jazz jam sessions have attracted both the up-and-coming and the well-known stars of the jazz world. Weekly open mic for singers sessions and late night jam sessions provide a jazz feast for night owls, as well as a chance for young musicians and seasoned professionals to hone their skills, and trade hot licks. We also now have a top-of-the line grand piano. We have been featured in Downbeat magazine's international club guide, "100 Great Venues to Hear Jazz"
