We arrived at the restaurant to discover that my coworker had made reservations for the wrong night - there were nine of us but the hostess did a great job of accommodating us and we only had to wait an hour. The Garden is nice - has a bar and you can get appetizers. The food was excellent, except that... More

What a disappointment! I had friends in town from out of state who wanted to go there because their daughter's office was near by. We had a large party of 10 on a Sunday evening and there was virtually no one in the restaurant. Eating in an empty restaurant is never fun, but our group was so large that we... More

Unfortunately, the spectacularly unique food could only mostly make up for the disappointing service. We arrived for a 5pm reservation on Saturday night on time (exactly 5) to find a locked door and other patrons waiting outside. Within a couple minutes, the door was unlocked but the hostess wasn't ready to sit people for a few more minutes. She had... More

I ordered Brut Rose & received the $20. glass instead of the $15. & the waiter said: " I thought you wanted that ". ????? I would like to know what I said that would indicate a choice? Chicken dish was on the Southern fried & was different & excellent. Pasta od lamb sausage equally excellent. Poached shrimp, well, they... More

We went there for dinner on a Thursday night. The food was really good. The service was impersonal and rushed. There were several large groups of people there, and the vibe suggested everyone was having a good time. Overall, it was a good experience, but it did not exceed my expectations. I suppose I would give it an "excellent" rating... More

Alex does not disappoint. The atmosphere, service and food were exceptional. You must try the mac n cheese gnocchi -- amazing. Food portions and prices are standard for NYC.

Too loud for conversation. Inconducive to business dinner or groups. Pork chop was the best I've ever had. Food was very solid but overpriced, lowering value.

Great expectations that were possibly, sort of, kind of, just a little met. Fabulous shrimp appetizer. Good wines by the glass. Service was 1st class. Large and loud group that kept whooping and yelling (yes, it was clearly "whooping"). Food was fair for the money and the hype. Many better places to eat in the area and in NYC in... More

My wife and I ate at this place during our last trip to NY. It’s been on our list to try for a number of years now (my wife is a big Alex fan) so it was good to finally get to try it on our second trip to NY. Unfortunately the service was unacceptable for the level of place... More
