We actually came here for dinner one night before gonig out elsewhere because of the awful "nightclub" reviews this place got. The food - eh, the service - pushy to increase bill amount, and the atmosphere - just boring.

Located in a renovated theater, the decor and atmosphere was wonderful. High ceilings, bamboo, river rock accents and a large buddha anchoring the main dining room. We ate selections from the pre-fix menu and of us were quite pleased.

I was a bit hesitant looking around for best Indian restaurants in the Newark City as I was a traveller from London and was not very much familiar with the local restaurants. However, I must say that Taj restaurant was simply brilliant, from menu variety, atmosphere and service everything was great. I will definitely visit again soon.

After our Reunion boatride on Saturday, July 27th, we attended a special Dance Party Brunch at Taj on Sunday, July 28th. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and professional and we had a great time!

We had our Indian wedding at Taj in June 2013, from the beginning till the end we were assisted by Taj manager Chris, he helped us plan the entire event from start to end. It went brilliantly and Chris was a fantastic help. They worked with us on transforming the space to fit our criteria for the wedding. We had... More

I wouldn't go to this place!!! They advertised a special on Citysearch for Friday: 2 for 1 10pm-12pm. I was planning on going there for my birthday with a large party. We will not be going there now because they are not honoring something that was posted. Then they lied and said they have a huge party tonight which I... More

I've been here too many times to count. Many professional events have been hosted here; I've attended a bunch of them & I am always impressed with this place. The various DJs are great, the bartenders know their stuff & one can't help but feel like a cool, young, hip NY'er! I'm not surprised anymore when I get invitations from... More

Visited NYC for a holiday weekend and wanted a night out. my cousin recommended Taj and we went early to stake out a spot for drinks and dinner before the club action got going. Our waiter gave us great drink recommendations (Summer Sidecar was sweet but with a kick) and the wings were sweet, spicy and delish. we hung in... More

Consulting chef Jonathan Lindenauer’s (Jean Georges) grand plan is perfectly executed by exec chef Edwin Riverra. The kitchen has created a changing menu of upscale French and New American dishes with Indian touches. A cool fusion of modern banquets and wood accents provide a setting for sipping Rose Martini’s or a refreshing Budina. The perfect location to mix the cosmopolitan cool of New York with the meditative calm of the Far East.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
