Met up with friends at this popular restaurant by NYU. The name suggests Japanese but the menu is more diner with Asian flair. The restaurant was busy before 7pm and there's a short line for tables. We managed to get a corner table by the window and the scenery did not disappoint. We tried the tuna salad, vegetarian tofu dish... More

Forget Sapporo for a good Ramen Miso and head to Dojos instead. We used to always go to Sapporo for a great Ramen Miso but it has gone downhill. On this trip we went to Dojos instead and it was fantastic. Besides the Ramen Miso they also have an extensive menu of both vegitarian and non vegitarian dishes all at... More

This is a Japanese restaurant with an eclectic menu-all reasonably priced. One in our party had a vegetarian dish which included a tofu steak. The tofu is not that disgusting runny stuff found in a square box in the grocery store. The steak, named because of its size and shape, was fried/baked tofu which was firm and yes, tasty. You... Perfect for students, which doesn't compromise the service or quality. Plenty of vegetarian options. Unfortunately it's cash only.

A friend brought us to Dojo on our trip in August 2010. The decor was basic, bar on one side, dinning room on the other side with a small terrace out front. The menu was simple, but enough for every type of eater. The price was very cheap and the food was very good. The tahini sauce was out of... More

It's a great place to go for a super cheap , semi-healthy meal. They have a ton of veggie options, and the tastiest carrot tahini dressing around.

This is my absolute favorite cheap eats place in NYC! You can get a tofu dinner with salad and brown rice for 4.95...it doesn't get better than that...unless you count the Japanese beer on draft.

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
