We found this restaurant by accident when we were walking on 7th Ave. in NYC. We decided to take a shot and were not disappointed. The service is primo and the food is to die for. They make a spaghetti with fruit de mare that...keeps me coming back. When in NYC this is a mustMore

I've been to Restivo quite a number of times. I usually go in the afternoon, for brunch or lunch, because Pepe, the manager, is there, except on Sundays. The brunch menu is like most better brunch menus, and the lunch menu is quite extensive and...tasty. Restivo is also the kind of restaurant that people who live in the neighborhood go to, and have been going to, for years. The food is always good, the atmosphere nice, and the service really attentive. I'd highly recommend Restivo if you're in the area. It's the perfect place to sit down, have a great conversation, and atmosphere, and enjoy a wonderful meal of Italian food.More

Cozy, homey, delicious. Remember when restaurants didn't source their items? When they left traditional dishes alone and didn't try to re-imagine them for the Instagram generation? When servers were professionals? So does Restivo. It's been there since the early 1990s and in a place like...NYC that means something: they know what they're doing. Support them. Go, eat, enjoy.More

My wife and I visit this restaurant whenever we're in New York City and we are never disappointed. There is outside dining, but we prefer to eat inside, where there are plenty of tables, a small bar and background music. We were greeted promptly and...shown to a table in the back. Our server Jose was very attentive, and we were given our bar drink and bread (which was warm and excellent) very quickly. We ordered a caesar salad for $6.95. It was tasty, but you may want to skip it and load up on the delicious bread instead. My wife had Shrimp Scampi, and I had a Filet Mignon with a mustard sauce. Both were very good.More

Chef Joseph Restivo offers delicious classic Italian cuisine in a romantic unpretentious and affordable cafe. On Friday the 13th, a full Harvest moon presided over a delightful mix of young local and crusty couples. Located in the Chelsea neighborhood, the restaurant is walking distance from...Penn Station. The tables are crowded but the joint is quiet enough so you can have intimate conversation. How romantically refreshing! Stracchiatella alla romana (Roman egg drop soup) with spinach was spectacularly delish! Imagine homemade chicken broth with tiny bits of shredded egg and fresh spinach. Hearty homemade memories! For main courses, we had the best Chicken Parmigiana and Rigatoni Pasta with Italian sweet sausage. We had two martinis and two glasses of wine. Total bill was under USD $70. We will be back!More

When we are in NYC, we spend at least one evening at Restivo's. As others have said this is a neighborhood eatery, easy going, quiet, and just a happy place with delicious Italian fare. I always get the bolognese with spaghetti... it's the perfect sauce...with homemade pasta. The raviolis are delicious too. Kudos to Ricardo the bartender who gives the most generous pours of wine. You can eat outside if you wish, but we like the happy ambience inside. As new restaurants open nearby and the hype of Hudson Yards, which just blocks away, grow... quiet, local restaurants is where people really want to dine alone, with your love or with friends.More

This quaint restaurant's Fixe prix lunch is a bargain but when we ordered the roasted veggies on garlic bread, what came with it was thick foccocio bread. We should have said we wanted the garlic bread but were told none was presently available. So for...the cheap price of the lunch we decided not to make a fuss. However, a word to the wise, always remind the waiter that you expect what is written on the menu, no substitutes. I dislike it when a restaurant is not transparent and tell you in advance about a change on the menu. A word to the wise always check back on the menu at another time at another restaurant cranberries were listed as part of the ingredients, but there were none. Always check before diving into the food and check that the content, partiularly a salad is correct. the menu descriptionMore

Great quiet spot for a couple to have delicious food and quiet conversation. The lemon chicken is incredible, as is the salad dressing. It is a hidden delight in Chelsea.

It is small and cozy, I didn't think it was especially quiet although we sat in front near the door, there were more tables toward the back which may be quieter. The food is very good and we enjoyed our dinner.
