Oldie But A Goodie

Macelleria is a meatpacking neighborhood staple. You are pretty much guarenteed an incredible meal (Meat/Pasta) and a delicious bottle of wine. They have a very extensive wine cellar located on the lower level. It is best suited for large parties (great private room in basement) or for couples as... read more

I was extremely excited about this place, we went there for new year eve and we left from it talking how bad the waiter was. My son decided that he wanted a starter 1 min after the waiter took our order, I call him back and he rudely reply that the kitchen was closed. 5 mins later he took the... More

I found this restaurant while visiting the Gansevoort neighborhood. We had reservations at another restaurant but I decided to cancel those and make reservations here for dinner after taking a peak into the restaurant during lunch. The service was exceptional with multiple food runners and beverage service staff. The food was right up there with their service. We started with... More

Start with the sausage appetizer, gotta have the sausage. It was amazing. The other appetizers were OK but forgettable.... The sausage, will definitely go back for it. We were on a big table where the vast majority got meat, different cuts and even a couple grilled pork that looked amazing! My sirloin was perfect! Someone on the table didnt like... More

Went for mid-week business lunch because clients were in the neighborhood. Located on an interesting block in the meat packing district with cobblestone streets and the like. Housed in an interesting space attached to a butcher shop with a nice vibe. Strip steak was amazing, as was a shared dish of cannellini and sausage. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their... More

Excellent food , despite some other reviewers experiences we found the service to be good . Fresh good quality Italian food , very meat based I suppose if you are a fish lover there is a choice but less than you might hope for . However I ate shellfish to start and fish for entree and was very happy with... More

Service fast and gentle. Pasta alla carbonara was nice and tasty Spaghetti alle vongole was tasty but in this case pasta was too much cooked. Mozzarella cheese and Parma ham was nice too. Quiet good wine list (we drank a bottle of Chianti Riserva 2010). Cost per person was right

Decided to take my sister to one of my favorite steak restaurant in NYC and was a total disaster. First we arrived and our table was not ready so we sat at the bar, we ordered drinks and were doing great. 15 min later our table was ready and we closed our tab and moved to our table. Our server... On all my NYC visits I try to eat at Macelleria at least once. Because it is 1) the best Italian restaurant in Manhattan and 2) like coming home. Staff is very friendly. Food is divine. If you close your eyes you could even imagine being on holiday in Italy. If you are lucky like me, you might even get... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
