Very popular restaurant. Went for dinner with friends. Absolutely delicious. We all had different selections so we had a little taste of everything. Good for families too, little noisy but that just added to the atmosphere. Staff very friendly. One of my favourite places to eat when in NYC.

I remember when Balthazar was new. It's amazing that surviving for just nineteen years makes you an institution, but that's the restaurant business. This time I went for breakfast. The pain au chocolat was fine, but unremarkable given how much better French bakery goods have gotten in New York. The omelette with herbs was soft and flavorful, although it had... More

If you visiting NYC for the first time, I would definitely recommend this piece of history. Nice service, good food, great atmosphere. That's how it should be!

Excellent onion soup gratinee. Normally mi wife order the grilled Sullivan county trout over a warm spinach, walnut and lentil salad. For me the Steak Au Poivre medium. Great list or wines. Some time the service is slow !

Where to start...really an amazing experience in NYC, food and staff are great. You have a full french cuisine in the hearth of the Big Apple...a must try if you are visiting...take you time to reserve as this place is really busy.

My friend had ordered a bottle of Champagne to be delivered to our table. It was presented perfectly by Celine, the manager. Every bite was delicious. The lobster risotto and Cod were my favorite. Vibrant scene. I felt like I was in Paris.

We stopped in for a late breakfast. The place was busy and getting busier but seeing as breakfast service was ending soon, the staff made sure we got our order in - super accommodating when they didn't have to be. The decor is classically French bistro down to the smallest detail. There is a good-spirited bustle in the place like... More

Every time I visit NYC I reserve one night for Balthazar. This French Bistro is already a classic in the city. The atmosphere puts you right into Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris film. Deco details are wonderful, the place is romantically lit, the food is awesome, service is expert. My only reservation goes to the fact that the place is... More

You will not agree with me if you enjoy tables so tightly packed together that people next to you cannot move without first asking you to move your table so they can get out. If you enjoy the waiting on staff having no space to get properly to your table to take the order, then having great difficulty fitting what... More
