We were in New York for our honeymoon so we made a booking at Balthazar. We were not disappointed. Wine, food and service were top notch!! A real gem in Manhattan.

We mostly enjoyed our breakfast at Balthazar but it was overpriced for what it was. I had the granola, and the fruit serving skimped out on all the good stuff (strawberries, pineapple) but was loaded up with rockmelon / honeydew, which is a bit of a cheat's trick! The serving wasn't huge and for $15 it needed to be a... More

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner more than our friends, proving it all depends on what you order. At first the hostess sat us at a booth which was way too small for 4 adults. We asked to move to a table which they did and our comfort level was significantly improved. Our waitress was very accommodating and very... More

This restaurant was hyped beyond belief when it first opened in Soho about 20 years ago. While hype doesn't always translate into quality, Balthazar was truly great then and I am happy to report it is still a great place. The restaurant is like stepping into Paris full of warm and inviting decor. The menu is typical French bistro -... More

Tried the Full English Breakfast. Very big portion, as it should be, and so tasty. Nice interiors and warm ambience as if you're dining in Europe!

After reading many a review of how pre booking was essential and the experience not to be missed,we were sadly disappointed by this over hyped, over priced "French themed" restaurant. We had literally waited for months to visit and booked as soon as possible,we arrived before our time having had a keen walk down pleased we could be seated early, however this... Balthazar's was recommended to us. We arrived mid week at lunchtime and could not get a table but we secure seats and the bar. The atmosphere is buzzy. A decent menu and wine list. We both had steak and fries and Côtes du Rhône (If I remember correctly). Balthazar's is more a quality bistro than a fine dining restaurant but... More

We did not have reservations, but the maitre d' was kind enough to seat us in between his reservations. The atmosphere was loud, but typical New York. The menu was so good, it was difficult to choose! We all enjoyed our meals. I would definitely return and recommend this restaurant.

We were excited to try this restaurant which was a favorite of our foodie friends'. The tight quarters made for interesting people watching of our neighbors and that is the best I can say. The steak frite was a tasteless piece of meat. The papperdelle with wild boar had an over-reduced, salty sauce. The shepherd's pie with duck was also... More
