I only wish I'd known about Po sooner! The food was fantastic and service was spot-on. I'm glad we chose to sit at the bar because David, the bartender for the evening, was very nice, entertaining, and a lot of fun. I look forward to returning.

This was a very very good meal, not the greatest we've ever had. But definitely top 15%. There was a reasonably priced tasting menu, which we've ordered before, and which included pumpkin ravioli with an amaretti crumb sauce, which was outstanding. Gnocchi with Bolognese sauce, which were very very good. And a tasty pork dish. The chef selects on your... More

We arrived at 2:30 and were seated. No one asked us if we would like a drink. At 2:45 a waiter walked over and said we needed to order because the kitchen was closing at 3. As I needed a moment to read the menu he was generous enough to acquiesce. He then came back 2 minutes later and asked... More

We were guests at a wedding rehearsal dinner here and it totally blew us away. (Thank you Laura & Walter!) Every dish was a delight, including the cannelloni bean crostini; arugula and portobello salad; linguini with clams; sautéed peaches with Gorgonzola; meatballs; gnocchi; skirt steak in a balsamic reduction sauce; Guinea hen; and desserts such as ricotta cheesecake, chocolate pate,... Cozy yet vibrant little spot tucked away - we enjoyed great service and great food. Fresh homemade pastas with rich sauces - so delicious! The bean bruschetta appetizer is great, as were all the apps we tried among our table. Beet salad, sea bass ravioli, tuna 'salad', polpetta. The pasta entrees were huge...not one of us finished our portion. Somehow... More

It's restaurant week in Manhattan. So, we booked lunch at Po's expecting good service, soft music and a delicious lunch. All we enjoyed was the food. It was delicious. The loud playing Rock n Roll music was a little too much after listening to Bill Haley, Elvis and many singers & groups from the 50's & 60's. There weren't any... More

Discrete, romantic Italian restaurant, with terrific food. I love how it is not an obvious touristic spot, but its an essential in the city

Back when Po opened in the 1990s it was virtually impossible to get a seat in this charming, tiny eatery that helped start Mario Batali's career. It still is as good as ever (maybe better) and while a reservation is suggested, it isn't as hard to get in. Who knows how many restaurants have opened in closed over the past... More

We recently had a delicious lunch at Po. The frittata was one of the best we have ever had. But the service was terrible. We saw the waiter when we ordered and when we were given the bill. Neither time was he friendly. When we were there the restaurant was empty, but the waiter acted as if we were imposing... More

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
