Cones is a New York institution. Even in the dead of winter you see a steady flow of ice cream aficionados (locals, tourists, celebrities, politicians) stopping in for their must-have frozen fix. What you’ll notice right away is Cones offers really neat flavors you simply can’t get anywhere else (Dulce de Leche, Sweet Potato & Brie, Corn, Cinnamon Honey, etc,... More

Skip the other frozen dairy imitators on Bleecker and head right for here. Cones has been serving premium desserts for years and they are still the best.

Got the almond cream, which was delicious. It was sweet without being overpowering, and the ice cream was so rich and smooth.

The cafe mocha chip was like regular coffee on steroids, incredibly intense with layers of flavor. The ginger was subtle, nuanced and had great ginger flavor. See my review for Grom - just down the street if you are trying to decide between the two places for a cold dessert.

The homemade taste is hard to beat and the light, full bodied flavors have an Italian gelato touch. Simply sensational!!

As the selection of boutique icecream shops in the village increases and the price per scoop skyrockets, this shop is a steady, consistent performer with a large set of choices. My husband had corn with cinnamon - that alone is worth the visit. I had lime- tart but on a hot day refreshing. My daughter had chocolate- the plainest they... More

Choosing a flavor (or two) was difficult. I sampled some interesting flavors, including Sweet Potato and Brie. I went with a scoop of corn and a scoop of watermelon. Outstanding! Perfect dessert!

Located just down the street from Joe's Pizza on the very touristy part of Bleeker, Cones Ice Cream Artisans is an outstanding gelateria. The South American Green Tea ice cream is awesome. Alejandro from Argentina was gracious and very accommodating as we needed an ice cream cake of Mata on short notice for a birthday party.

This ice cream joint is fabulous! Very simple looking from the outside, the magic inside will send your taste buds into creamery heaven. A self proclaimed ice cream fanatic, I tasted two flavors the first night I visited Bleecher St., and walked out with a waffle cone filled with both of those flavors plus my old stand by, mint chocolate... My son was very taken by this place as we walked by. Nothing special as it looks like any other ice cream or gelato place. He got the mint chocolate chip. It is pretty pricey but I chalked it up to NYC and homemade. It was fresh mint and didn't have that fake taste. I actually got a few bites... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
