Delicious, healthy and different twists on meals like black bass and sea bass in a calm, chic environment without all the fuss and noise of most highly acclaimed restaurants. The service was attentive and the chef was able to accomodate two vegetarian guests. Collectively we had the black bass (delicious), the red snapper (fresh and also delicious), the fried oysters,... A very interesting dinner -- we were very surprised at the complexity of tastes and very impressed with the quality of service. The menu seems to change quite often, so one example may set the stage for readers: our amuse was a single escargot in a pastry cup filled with bacon cream -- absolutely delicious, but apart from a strong... We went to Annisa for the first time with friends and thought the dinner was both delicious and interesting. As an appetizer my husband had asian dumplings with seared foie gras on top which he raved about; I have the Labne Spheres with Delicata which were light but also delicious. For dinner all 4 of us had the special --... More

We ate at Annisa on the recommendation of a friend. We had the five course tasting menu. One of the great things about the experience was the ability to talk about what you wanted to experience with one of the staff who asked about preferences, allergies etc. We had delicious bbq squid, two tastes of fish (one sashimi, one cooked... I came with 5 for work. The foie gras amuse bouche melted in my mouth. Pakora fried oyster appetizer was perfectly balanced by the fennel/yogurt. The mackerel entree with Korean chili was perfectly done. No dessert because the first course were so satisfying. $25 app and $46 entree. Worth going again with wife or if someone else is paying, but... More

An ambience of understated charm, all around excellent service & inventive deliciousness on every plate -- what more can you ask for? It definitely lived up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in NYC, and that's saying something in a city of truly great restaurants. We had a lovely evening there, and eagerly plan to return!

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. We were greeted by the Maitre d' and brought to our table. We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu and it was a fun experience. Our waiter was very informative and considerate and asked us various questions about our likes and dislikes (we looked at the menu to see what were... More

one of the worse meals we ever had. some could say that its a matter of personal taste but there are some things that you just don't do, you do not serve raw baby eggplant in a tomato "salad",I cannot describe of awful it makes you feel. I don't think the chef tasted it even because i dont know any... More

Good things: -- Quiet and elegant -- Great wine recommendations -- The foie gras dumpling dish -- Nicely arranged food Bad things: -- Although we mentioned we cannot handle salty food, the majority of dishes were overly salted, even when the sauce was left out -- The waitress who served our food was completely robotic and just plain odd --... Annisa's $ 115 five-course tasting menu is definitely worth the money and certainly competitive with (higher priced) tasting menus at other high-end NY gastronomic destinations. The seared foie gras soup dumpling is a fine example of Chef Anita Lo's French-East Asian fusion cuisine: a perfect blend of tastes! The miso cod was also very tasty. A fine selection of wines... Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
