I visited Dave's Gourmet on a Saturday morning. I was in a hurry and hungry so I stopped to get a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll & coffee. It was delicious. I would have preferred that the bread be toasted but it did...not take away from the taste. I would recommend this place for a quick bite to eat.More

My daughter lives nearby, so I've been here a few times. However, the past time was awful, and I may never be back. My opinion of the place before was O.K. food at a reasonable price and average service. This time the service dropped several...levels. There were four people behind the counter at 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon. In theory, one was specializing in sandwiches and the grill, one focused on salads, and two cashiers. However, the back-up was for the sandwiches. I was 4th in line, and it took no less than 40 minutes to get my food. The issue was no one was helping the poor sandwich guy out. One of the cashiers was yelling at the salad specialist to help -- but unless I'm overestimating the difficulty in putting some meet, cheese, and lettuce and dressing on one half of a roll and slapping the other half on top, the cashier could have helped himself. The food was O.K., but no apology for the delay was forthcoming. The only reason it's getting two stars instead of one is past experiences that weren't as bad.More

Stopped in while at Randall's Island- a short walk across the footbridge into Manhattan- and could not have been happier. We grabbed deli sandwiches for lunch, which were excellent. As we waited the few short minutes for them to be made, we looked around and...found a good variety of ethnic/ cultural foods, standard food & items and drinks. The Korean dried seaweed snacks were really good! The value was amazing- I really thought we'd pay over $20, but it was about $14 for 2 sandwiches, a large coffee, a Gatorade, a water and my seaweed snack. Definitely worth the trip and we will be back to try more of the prepared foods they offer.More
