My last review was critical due primarily to my very lengthy wait for oysters when I was the only diner in the restaurant. More recently, including today's lunch, the food was excellent and the service was, too. Great improvement, thanks, in part, to an exceptional server by the name of Coco. She is warmly welcoming and very attentive. The order of... More

Located on Second Avenue on the Upper East Side is a place known only to the locals called Shoga. This very modern sushi & oyster bar serves only the freshest seafood and is a huge hit with the many people who live in the area. It's always busy but never crowded. you don't need a reservation. And their beer and... More

We stumbled across this neighborhood favorite and just couldn't get enough of it. The sushi is fresh and delicious. The service is outstanding and they remember your name.

Meh. Nothing good or bad to report about this place. Wouldn't make an effort to go there, but if I'm in the neighborhood I might try it again.

I've always enjoyed the food in Shoga . The Oyster Happy Hour is the best !!!! I love the Crystal Roll, seafood soup and awesome oysters. Great place to hangout.

Fairly small place and not fancy decorated, but all the dishes we tried were wonderful. The service was welcoming and food served quickly. If you find yourself hungry in the neighborhood, don't hesitate to step in. you will enjoy it.

This was a solo stop for a dozen oysters and a beer during their generous seven hour happy "hour" from 12 to 7. H O W E V E R, it took forever in an empty restaurant to get those oysters. Aside from a woman sipping wine at a booth, there was no one else but me at the bar... More

Best spot for lunch and happy hour! Food is always great and the staff is always friendly! Especially Coco!!! Love the selections they have for sushi and noodles. And how can you resist $1 oysters and drink specials from 3-6 everyday. Kid friendly too!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
