In the City after visiting a museum and not sure where to go for a bite when we happened across this little place. What a pleasant surprise. Orders included pasta, soup, shrimp, chicken. Meals good portions and everything was pretty authentic. Wait staff very nice, and home made ice cream and deserts a hit. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

What an experience! From the start of the meal, straight through to the finish, we were impressed. Cafetal Social Club offered all the comforts of home, with outstanding food and a team that feels like distant relatives. Make sure you set some time aside and really settle in to relax and enjoy the full experience!

The servers were attentive. The wait time for food was reasonable for homecooked meals and it was delicious. The atmosphere was lovely. Great place to try some Italian food away from the hustle and bustle.

The Social Club is run by Italians, and the food is authentic. However, the entrees were a bit bland. The antipasto and gelato brought me back to Italy and were worth the trip. I recommended the restaurant to others I met during my time in NY who were looking for an authentic Italian restaurant, as the ambiance, friendly service and... More

If this cafe wasn't on the other side of the world from my home I'd probably go there every day. Came across Cafetal Social Club while out and about exploring on our first day in New York; loved the coffee!!. Went back a couple of days later for lunch. It was a hot day, and the salad, followed by iced... More

A charming little place just off of Houston street that has excellent coffee, good morning breakfasts and no attitude. The staff is accommodating and it is a bit out of the way offering a quiet refuge for a few minutes.

We went in for an early dinner which was good because this place is fairly small so setting was not a problem. The service was very good and the food excellent. There were six of us and we each ordered something different and all enjoyed their meals. Just a short walk from the subway..

A large variety of choices, many home-made, from breakfast through a late evening bite to eat. All varieties of Gelato, espresso and the like. Full course meals to a snack, the food is tasty, service excellent and prices quite reasonable. Stay away from the tourist traps further down the street in Little Italy, and try this.

Staying in Nolita

Neighborhood Profile
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighborhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighborhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
