Thai food isn't known for being expensive. But for two beers, three entrees, soup, and an appetizer it was $135! We were waiting for quite a long time before we were acknowledged by the server, and the restaurant only had about seven filled tables, so it wasn't like they were slammed. The food, of course was excellent. And as a... More

We so wanted to love this place, since we love Thai food. And we were off to a good start: the drinks were excellent, I had the Jaiya-tini and my husband the restaurant's signature drink, Fire and Ice. The Volcanic Tom Yum soup was very spicy, just the way we like it and it was delicious. It comes in a... More

Was intrigued by all of the advertisements on TV and went with a friend. It exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be returning. It is nicely decorated with beautiful carved wood. The cocktails were interesting and well prepared. Lava Bowl Shrimp with glass noodles was wonderful and the "mild" was spicy enough for me! Dumplings and curry puffs were... More

No doubt, the food is good. And the ambience is very nice. But -- as Thai food restaurants go -- it's pretty expensive. And $15 each for a glass of not-very-special wine it a more-than-a-little too much. I would have given Five Stars to Jaiya if the prices were 30-50% cheaper. As it is, at these price levels, it only... More

Been here once before a few years ago and had a less than optimal experience. Decided to give them one more try basically because the ambiance seemed very appealing. Went on a friday night around 10pm without a reservation and got a table for 2 without hassle. Everything here from the drinks to the appetizers and the entrées are pricier... More

The food was good, good enough that I'd go back again, but we probably would choose to go elsewhere... It turns out that Jaiya runs TV commercials in NYC, and someone has to pay for it so the prices are slightly higher here vs elsewhere for the same item. I usually don't mind paying extra, but felt that they also... More

We invited another couple to dinner here sight unseen. The inside decor is nice, the staff is excellent and the food was outstanding. Unusual items. Wine list included the kinds of inexpensive wines that we find useful in Thai food spices. We will be back.

Delicious food, good service and a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The portions are smaller than at the other Jaiya locations and certainly when compared to other Thai restaurants in general. I think the flavors here have been toned down a bit for our American palate which is a shame because the authentic thing is so amazing. This remains one... More

Great food and ambience at Jaiya. Friendly staff and good food. I recommend the steamed dumplings, chicken sate & whole fish.

I had a really nice experience. The food is just perfect. Though we were only 2 of us so we couldn't order much but whatever we ordered was great. The papayia salad and green curry was amazing. Mind you if you cant handle spice then only order the regular, dont bother for a medium or very spicy food.Ambiance is nice and... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
