My sister and I stopped in with her daughter in law and grandson, and my grandson. We split a bunch of appetizers, and if we didn't have plans later for dinner elsewhere, we could have eaten all night. The guacamole tartar was incredible, smoky brussel...sprouts - delicious, I don't eat mushrooms but the rest of our group made the mushroom croquettes disappear very quickly! The calamari was also very well cooked. Being from RI, everybody here makes calamari, and everybody overcooks it until it's like chewing rubber. Not at Ella. It was perfectly crisp, not chewy at all and the 2 sauces (aioli and tomato compote) were great when we double dipped. I can't wait until my next NYC trip, and a full dinner this time, at Ella. Service was incredible, even when the place filled up we were not forgotten. The music was low-key, so we didn't have to yell to hear each other speak. The manager was even nice enough to hail a cab for us.More

I'm not sure if this is the same restaurant, we ate a Ella's on W.Columbus . The food was excellent, fresh wholesome and reasonably priced. Service was personal and efficient. If this isn't the same bar/ eatery, you should definitely try Ella's on Columbus Ave...in New York City.More

The new place is light, bleached, clean, and boring. There is a picture of a...half-naked woman on the back wall---but why? The food and wine are OK, the service is a bit airheaded--and the overriding sense is: If it wasn't broke...More
