We were staying at a B and B further over on the island, and came back here to eat supper, as we had enjoyed this restaurant 4 years previously. Again, we had great meals. It is a nice atmosphere there, the menu is varied, the food tasted great, and it was fast service. The front window is large, for viewing... More

We took the Ferry and this place was right off the ferry and had a view of the water and city which is what we wanted. The service was disappointing. There is one guy working and another lady. But the lady won't do anything. We asked her for a water refill because the gentlemen was running like 10 tables and... More

Took the free ferry from Manhattan to Staten Island. Once off the ferry we walked up the hill to Bay Street and Karl's Klipper restaurant. It looked nice from the outside. The interior decor needs a bit of an update - plastic flowers strung around the perimeter of the dining room and the ceiling showed lots of water damage. We... More

This was our second stop on the north shore restaurant crawl which are 20 different restaurants participating in free food tastings to the particiipants. This was out second stop, and were greeted warmly by a hostess who directed us to a back room set up with trays of food to sample. The portions were generous and the food fresh and... More

After walking from place to place, we finally found a restaurant that could serve those under 21. Rather frustrating but Karl's Klipper welcomed us and soon gave us satisfaction. The host/waiter was really nice and interested in making us as comfortable as possible. Even though there is a bar to the left as you walk in (and restaurant to the... More

This is a great place with friendly, informative staff and good food. It's close to the ferry, not too expensive, and with a good food selection. There is a bar area as well as a eating area. I've been there for drinks at night and it's just as welcoming as it is for lunch during the day. I highly recommend... More

Been there for lunch a few times ... The food was never bad just normal.. ok prices... the locals have a pretty cool hang out on the weekend and were always friendly, not too rowdy. the pool table in the bad is in a nice spot and bathrooms nice and clean. overall would go back.

On my first visit to New York in 2005 my friend took me here for a birthday lunch. Every time I have been back since I have made the journey over to at least have a beer at the bar. Good food, great service and a very good location only a few minutes walk from the Statin Island ferry terminal.

My husband and I had a nice lunch here during our short visit to Staten Island, however Karl's Klipper won't become a "must return to"-restaurant for us. Both waitresses that attended us were very nice and the restaurant has a good location near the ferry to Manhattan. Being a tourist I found it nice having a meal amongst locals, rather... More

We tried several restaurants in the area but all were closed on Memorial Day. Unfortunately Karl's was open, we started with buffalo wings and they came out half cooked and pink. After a short wait they came back fully cooked and were actually pretty good. Next up was corned beef on rye, my favorite sandwich unfortunately this one was all... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
