I've eaten at this restaurant over a dozen times in the last year and it never disappoints! The food is consistently fresh, delicious, and authentic with a creative twist. It is as if you got on a plane and went to Italy for the evening... literally everything is made in-house fresh pastas, pizzas, desserts etc. Also the chef is here... More

The closest you'll get to eating in Italy without going to Italy is eating at Rafele's. This isn't just my opinion. It's the consensus of our party of six that recently dined there and we're a tough group to impress. We have all enjoyed the culinary delights of Italy and we all come from homes where cooking is serious business.... More

Just got back from a 3 course meal with my wife at Rafele and we're very disappointed. Service: This is the thing that upset us the most. It was awful. Worst I've experienced. There's no structure and it's completely impersonal. There is a girl at the front desk that just seems to be twiddling her thumbs. Then 2 men dressed... More

We were visiting NY for the day and wanted the best italian food. Boy this place didn't disappoint! We loved the very intimate atmosphere! The service was awesome and we LOVED the food. There is so much to say about this place, the ambiance, the drink menu, etc. It's a place you don't want to miss!!

Picked this place for our last good meal in NY. And whilst we didn't go all out due to a late reservation, what we tried was very good. The truffle and sweet sausage pappardelle was a special, but if it pops up, you MUST try it. Pizzas were also very good too, square and crunchy. Only downside was the hipster... More

We literally stumbled upon this gem of an Italian restaurant in the west village. The tomatoes on the caprese salad were thick and juicy! Gorgeous! The burrata app was delicious ... Creamy burrata over perfectly seasoned roasted veggies! The caccio e Pepe pasta was new to us and we fell in love with the rich flavor! It was perfect! Finished... More

We visited this restaurant as part of a walking food tour and were impressed with the food, the ambience and the friendliness of the staff, including the chef, Rafaele. We came back that evening and treated ourselves to the Chefs Tasting Menu. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish and the whole experience. The service was great, if a little too attentive... More

I came here with a bunch of friends on a Thursday night and the place was packed which meant the food must be good. We had sat down for about 15 minutes before any waiter comes over to give us water or menus which is never a good sign. Finally we just flagged down the waiter to get things going... More

This is the typical Italian restaurant , good food and poor service Dishes are wrong because they don't write down the order , they bring the main bits and pieces , without sides Water is served always late and after asking 10 times A customer left because nobody attended them in 29 minutes Professionalism is what would take this place... My wife and I are staying in the east village whilst my wife is on a training course. We're over from the UK and having visited NY previously on our honeymoon, we wanted to live like New Yorkers for a week (we'd done all the sightseeing last time). After a few hours and miles walking around lower Manhattan we needed... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
