You are only blocks from Chinatown so it is not the authentic Chinese cuisine you come here for... solid Asian menu with really good specials. Salads and entrees at lunch with usual noodle dishes as well. All well prepared with crisp presentation and no long...waits. Most enjoy not being rushed out at lunch which is a real problem in this neighborhood of late.More

I went to this restaurant very often and have ordered take-out as well. It is open by one of famous Chinese stylist Li Dongtian, and he applies his style into the food. My favorite dish is Yunnan Style Steamed Sole Fille

Nice little bar and restaurant - excellent melon cocktails and the chinese food is pretty good (although our food was a little cold by the time it was served). Very patient and friendly service, and nice high end vibe minus the prices. Would go again...if wanting to meet a friend for an impromptu catch-up without the crowds.More

I live in the area for almost two years now, but somehow this restaurant remained unnoticed. Tried it last week, and it's really good. The interior is nice, table linens, bar, five types of Chinese beer. The food is tasty (I tried garlic pork and...shrimps with mushrooms) and the portions are large, so you may skip the appetizer. The entries cost anywhere from $15 to $30. They have meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian dishes. The service was pretty fast when the restaurant was empty, but then it's slowed down a little. If you like Chinese food this is a definitely the right place to go.More

Brought here by a Chinese colleague, I was completely impressed with the dishes this restaurant prepares. It's not the saucy Chinese food you typically expect at all. Rather, they offer a fabulous blend of spices and flavors that make this a unique and pleasant dining...experience. Definitely worth going!More

This place is just down the road from Chambers St station and our hotel. It was ... unexpected, in a good way. I've eaten a lot of what is referred to as 'Chinese' food in various bits of Europe and the USA and never had...anything quite like this. Apparently it is a modern Yunnan fusion cuisine; you can't prove it by me, but whatever it was, it was just right. My recommendation: share some potstickers at the start of your meal. Non-Americans who don't have this word in their vocabulary, be advised that on the evidence of this restaurant, potstickers are sort of fried versions of dim sum, which come on a crispy pancake that looks a bit like a poppadum. Also, the Lao dark beer is extremely good, the cocktails were excellent on a hot evening and the ice cream was just right to share one portion between two.More

We were walking around Tribeca and walked past Lotus Blue without first noticing it. It is a bit of a hidden restaurant with not a lot of signage but we noticed the colour inside the restaurant so we went in. What a surprise for this...modern Yunnan cuisine - there were three of us and we set the 'set lunch' menu selecting butterfish, double pepper pork belly and spicy beef which came with a bamboo soup. All the dishes were delicious. Of course being Manhattan we had to have cocktails and there Apple Chili Kick was a chili surprise - what a spicy cocktail that was. I had the Ginger Honeymoon and loved it - need a ginger refresher. Well worth the effort to find this place and enjoy some great modern Yunnan food.More

Came upon this find after deciding upon Super Linda for dinner not realizing that Super Linda had closed for good a while back. So we began walking around the a few blocks in TriBeCa before passing Lotus Blue. A quick google and the reviews were...good enough to get us in the door. We were greeted warmly and promptly seated. I'm not sure of our server's name, but we were taken care above and beyond. A truly great dining experience with the food to match. This is a great, unpretentious neighborhood gem. Will definitely return next time in NYC.More

This wonderful restaurant had the misfortune of getting a lukewarm review from the NYT's Pete Wells. I don't know if he ordered poorly, or if Lotus Blue just had an off night when he visited, but this place has been consistently excellent every time I...have visited. Lots of superb and unusual mushroom dishes, and some interesting salads (banana blossom, chrysanthemum leaves), too. I also highly recommend the cross bridge noodles with fish. The portions are so large, I sometimes wonder if is place is acting as some kind of loss leader, especially since it is never very busy. Go here with a group, especially if you are having trouble getting a reservation on a Friday/Saturday, and you will not be disappointed. Only downsides are some mediocre and cloying cocktails, and an ambience which is sometimes a bit too sleepy (hopefully this latter point will change as people discover how excellent the food is). Also, dinner is definitely better than lunch. Don't come here for a break from jury duty or work - come for dinner.More
