The Leopard provides an intimate setting for some great Italian dishes reminiscent of the old country. The food selection is fabulous although the wine list could use some work. Overall this is a great experience. The restored decor is interesting, but does not provide the high end feel that you would get at some other high end restaurants in Manhattan.... More

With a wonderful Met opera awaiting us at 7:30, we wanted a restaurant near to Lincoln Center that would get an elegant evening off to a grand start. The Leopard rose to the occasion. My wife and I arrived ahead of our friends so went to the bar for a drink. The knowledgeable bartender helped me with an extraordinary glass... More

If you want an upscale, romantic restaurant with authentic Italian food and outstanding service this is the restaurant. It is truly a gem in a beautiful cozy setting in a historic building on the upper west side. For the quality and service prices are reasonable. Great wine list with many reasonable options. A special place for a special occasion and... More

Great service, reasonably priced 3-course prix fixe menu, best Manhattan I have had in a pleasant, low-key bar.

Giuseppe di Lampedusa's historical novel about a late 19th-century Sicilian prince has been one of my favorite novels ever since I finally got around to reading it a year or so ago. Lampedusa's unadorned writing conveys his protagonist's inner thoughts and feelings more persuasively than almost any other novel I've read. This being a restaurant review, however, and not a... We met friends for drinks. When we arrived and discovered we were all hungry, we asked for a table. Because my husband and I had to be out in time for a show, we all ordered entrees and drinks assuming we would also have time for dessert. Really, it was just a sorry experience for fine dining, due in large... More

I was treating some college age nephews and nieces (along with their moms and dads) to a "fancy" night on the town - An Opera at the Met and I also wanted them to experience a "high-class" dinner. I picked this place based on the location and the TA reviews. This place worked out perfectly. Of COURSE the food was... More

We remember wonderful dinners at the Café des Artistes and had been meaning to return. The space is comfortable, the wait staff attentive, and the food very, very nice. The waiter recommended a lovely Italian pinot noir that complemented our meal. The burrata and the gnocchi were wonderful starters; while I was hoping the described swordfish would be more interesting,... More

This young talented chef turns out some authentic and truly inspirational food in a magnificent setting . Located on West 67th st off Central Park West in the iconic 'Des Artist' pre war building, this smart and beautifully restored modern renovation of the old Cafe des Artist space proves worthy of many visits, it never disappoints. The pre-theatre menu is... More

We came to The Leopard for dinner before the opera. The restaurant was lively on a Friday night, yet felt cozy and elegant. Our soup, ravioli, and wine by the glass were quite good, and the staff were very attentive in terms of the pre-theater time constraint.

Description
Located in the New York landmarked Hotel Des Artistes, and surrounded by the astonishing 1920s murals by Howard Chandler Christy, THE LEOPARD at des Artistes finds its roots in the area once known as “The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies” (mid 1800s) and in the culinary traditions of the regions of Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Apulia, Sardinia, and of course Sicily, reaching a balance between dishes based on rural elements, such as pasta, vegetables, cheese, and seafood ingredients from the Costiera.
