Amazing overall experience. Ambience is quintessential NYC. Food ALWAYS delivers. Lovely crowd. Refined but not pretentious. The service is impeccable. And the menu is delightfully creative without being over the top.

My first visit to Leopard was a totally satisfying experience. I used to come here when it was Cafe des Artistes and the attractiveness of the place then exceeded the excellence of the fare. Well, it is still quite attractive, but the food is superb and the service very attentive and professional without being intrusive. The regional Italian cuisine offered... More

Like the Eagles song, a decent, casual affair in an elegant room. Mom had wheat and I had ricotta pancakes - both were exceptional. Wife had a decent frittata and we all left happy and full enough - the bill was also light. Expect to return for a shot at lunch or dinner.

Our hotel had described this restaurant as more of a local and less formal dining location. Well I am not certain I would agree as The Leopard at des Artists is pretty upscale and everyone was very well dressed. Maybe New York City is different. The restaurant focusses on Italian cuisine and in terms of specialisation it clearly has Sicilian... More

We had dinner twice at Leopard at des Artistes in recent months, the last time being Friday night the 3rd of June. The re-incarnation of Cafe des Artistes has retained the beautiful and sensuous murals which have been cleaned up to a certain extent so the ambiance is charming and pleasant. It is also mercifully not noisy, contrary to most... More

We were visiting for Sunday Brunch with old friends and wanted a place where you can talk without the normal NY high sound level. Then this is the place. The layout permits parties with children to sit secluded in the bar area. Service is nice and friendly. Brunch menue was OK but three of us choose my favourite dish, "Eggs... More

Very good restaurant near Lincoln center. We both did the 50 dollar price fixe menu. We both had the bronzino. Only complaint was that the dish was a bit small...but otherwise it tasted great. Service was excellent and friendly.

As a devotee of the old Cafe des Artistes I was glad to see that it was reincarnated as a fine-dining Italian restaurant and had a lovely romantic dinner one Friday with my wife with the murals of nymphs frolicking in the woods looking down upon us. Every dish was delicious and service was what one would expect at a... More

The Leopard was the perfect spot for my birthday dinner. The service was superb with great wine suggestions for the table. All of our entrees were cooked perfectly especially the fish special which was branzino. This New York classic lives up to its reputation and our expectations.

Had we planned for a Mothers Day dinner at The Leopard at Des Artistes, it would have been a lovely dinner. While the space isn't as elegant as it was when it was simply Cafe des Artistes, the space is handsome, and still features the lovely murals once so beautifully accented with an abundance of lush & colorful fresh flowers.... Description
Located in the New York landmarked Hotel Des Artistes, and surrounded by the astonishing 1920s murals by Howard Chandler Christy, THE LEOPARD at des Artistes finds its roots in the area once known as “The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies” (mid 1800s) and in the culinary traditions of the regions of Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Apulia, Sardinia, and of course Sicily, reaching a balance between dishes based on rural elements, such as pasta, vegetables, cheese, and seafood ingredients from the Costiera.
