Pleasant spot with very good service, wine and Hot Toddy. Food was trying way too hard to be creative, and wound up with disturbingly similar sauces for both the Castelfranco and Beet Salad, and the ($41!) Cod Roulade special -- a milky, watery white sauce. The salad ($19) lacked blue cheese. My wife did like her Chicken Ravioli appetizer, but we agreed that The Mary Lane is no Market Table.

The Mary Lane Very good, hopping West Village spot with an open and pleasant atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff. We had such a good brunch! The butternut squash tart was creative and tasty. The shakshuka was one of the best we have ever had, well seasoned, fresh and the eggs were mercifully not over cooked. The shrimp Caesar salad with poached eggs was also perfectly prepared and tasty. (They know how to make the perfectly cooked egg.) Our server, Gabi, was bubbly, attentive and warm. We had such a great brunch and have added Mary Lane to our dining repertoire! (We have had such good brunches at Little Owl and Market Table as well, and, while all 3 are quite good, Mary Lane is our favorite.)

I’d give this place a 3.5 if possible. Great ambiance and very friendly service. The trout was perfect, the sides not so much. Potatoes or grits would have been a better pairing (sure, not as fancy, but still better). The almond cake desert was a good option for something not too sweet but still satisfying. But my cocktail was disappointing—lots of sugar and ice, skimpy on the pour. Overall, the experience was ok. But since the ambiance and service were good, I’m open to giving it another try.

The Mary Lane was a phenomenal meal. It was one of the rare places where every course is excellent. Great atmosphere, phenomenal menu. The roasted carrots with fried chickpeas, the duck the celery root soup w almond cream, the crudo, the vegetarian lasagna and the olive oil cake were just beyond. Just a great experience.

We visited during Restaurant Week. The 3-course meal was surprisingly filling. The cocktail list is brief, but the options are interesting. The plates were flavorful and attractively presented. The Grilled Pork Loin was delicious. The service was attentive.

We had a a great experience at the Mary lane last night. The previous night we ate at Upland and was thoroughly unimpressed but the Mary lane has restored our faith in neighbourhood dining. Food was great.. super fresh and lots of choice… service was good and pace of meal was spot on.,, too often the courses are sent out as quickly as McDonalds. Wines were good as well. All in all a top place and would thoroughly recommend.

Gorgeous restaurant in the Village. Staff super friendly, efficient and helpful. Lovely relaxed but chic atmosphere. Cocktails (especially the Pride special) were delicious. Had the prettiest crab starter (entrée) I've ever seen! Sadly there was a problem with the kitchen extractor fans so the kitchen was closed before we had our main courses. The staff were apologetic and gave us enough warning to finish our drinks and kindly made reservations at their sister restaurant The Clam (see next review)! Would love to come back when next in NYC for the full dining experience! Highly recommended.

The beautifully renovated space is inviting with attention to every detail. Exciting accent wall colors, soothing classic furnishings with clean and defined decor. The warmth comes from the staff who have clearly taken their cue from the managers at The Mary Lane. We loved the food and atmosphere so much, we came back the next day for brunch. We visit NYC several times a year. The Mary Lane will always be on our list of restaurants to visit. Be sure to visit during Happy Hour! The bar does not disappoint!

We read about this restaurant in a paper review in the UK. We thought we would try when we were in NY and glad we did. We actually ate here on our anniversary and they gave us a great table. Everything about it we liked. The food is excellent. I had the steak option here the day after I had had steak at Petite Boucherie not far away (which as a michelin star) and Mary Lane was very clearly better - no competition. Was also cheaper. The starter and desserts were also excellent. The setting is also good - it feels comfortable, and the location in West Village is fabulous. The service is excellent. The only tiny improvement point is that they need to invest in tea pots! A cup of hot water with a tea bag doesn't quite do it for tea drinkers. I would say that the tea is excellent though (it deserves a pot!). We will return next time we are in NY.

Outstanding and truly genuine “farm to table” cuisine. Service was warm and efficient. Nice cocktail menu and reasonably priced wine list (our server recommended a red that was truly outstanding and modestly priced). Food was fantastic. Although the plates explained each dish to the finest detail, the fresh, pristine raw materials were allowed to shine through. A fantastic risotto, a robust burrata and a crudo all hit the mark. Highlights of the mains were a striped bass special, a branzino showered by sliced white asparagus a top a parsnip purée, a truly unique sweet potato “lasagna” and a perfectly prepared sirloin. Don’t forget to “eat your vegetables”. They are magnificent! Great desserts, too. We ended with a delicious Port that was again reasonably priced. There is a bar and still outdoor sidewalk dining, “a la pandemic “. Good crowd all of whom seemed to be enjoying themselves. On one side of us there were two young couples. On the other side were two couples who had to be in their seventies. Both tables seemed to be having a joyous and a celebratory evening. Get there quickly.

Try fighting fraud with your credit card company. The manager, Roy, messed up our order (it’s hard to do, but he did it) and then moved slowly remake the next order. After 25 minutes of waiting he said “buddies, chill out” when he took over 25 minutes to deliver a properly made cocktail at the end of the night. The waitress said she was embarrassed by Roy, and offered us a drink to make it up. Roy insisted no one should be embarrassed and tried to charge us. The waitress again apologized for a manager who could neither make a cocktail nor let her keep her word. She left in embarrassment for the night. Now we get to fight the bill Chase. Roy insists the customers and his staff were wrong and he was right. Great staff but Roy can neither manage the bar, his ego, or make a drink. Sorry to anyone that works with him or goes here.

Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
