I go here whenever I am visiting something nearby. It has various french pastries and macarons. The pastries and very good, the macarons are good but not the best I've had in NYC. The staff can be short and a bit rude, depending on who is serving you. I once had a man who worked here treat me like I... More

These French treats are simply magnificent! Several times a week these products are flown in directly from France to your mouth. The freshness and flavors can be overwhelming because these macaroons are quite simply works of art that you can eat. You won't be disappointed.

Even if you are not into macaron nor desert stuff, I strongly recommend this place and check out. I am not a sweet food person, but every time when I visit NYC, I have to stop at this place and make sure I can the macaron, whether for myself or for a gift.

Its a lovely pattiserie and has small tables. Macarons are wonderful. However, the staffs can be more polite.

What can I say, I've been to the 2 in NYC, the Soho shop also as a full service restaurant, and their deserts are fantastic. I've also been to the one in Paris and while larger of course, it's just as good in NYC. Also been to the one in London all are great. To the person who said, not... More

You're on holidays (or wish you were) and walking along Madison enjoying a browse. Feel like treating yourself to something you might not usually do? - Laduree is the perfect spot. A small chocolate cake, chocolate croissant and a couple of macarons later we were in an even happier place.

The magic is in the macaroons! Haven't been to the one in Paris but the New York Madison Avenue store is wonderful and the macaroons are to die for.

Never settle for less! The ultimate in macaroons! The ultimate in service, and going the extra mile! We have used Laduree' now for several deliveries, one all the way to California for our daughters birthday and one for a friend in the hospital in NYC. Both deliveries were perfect. Phoned in the order and a short time later, for a... More

We were in the area for a local competition. Some friends suggested we walk over to this place to get some macarons (yes, that is the correct uppity french spelling). They have a picture menu with the different flavors, etc. But, you have to move fast -lots of people and some very rude (it is NY after all). We made... More

Laduree's signature macarons in every imaginable flavor are just simply the best. Just try to choose amongst Coconut, Raspberry, Salted Caramel, Pistachio, Rose, Praline, and Citrus. One bite of these beautiful treats and you're back in Paris! Their sweets are heavenly too, precious little fruit tarts and gold leafed eclairs. The small adjacent tea room serves the most incredible hot... More

Description
The history of Parisian tea rooms is intimately tied to the history of the Ladurée family. It all began in 1862, when Louis Ernest Ladurée, a miller from the southwest of France, founded a bakery in Paris at 16 rue Royale. The story of the Ladurée macaron began in the mid-20th century with Pierre Desfontaines, second cousin of Louis Ernest Ladurée, who had the delicious idea of creating a double macaron, two simple macaron shells joined in the middle by a luscious filling. And the rest, as they say, is history. Today, Ladurée is not only the "Fabricant de Douceurs depuis 1862" (Maker of Sweets since 1862), but also a global company bringing the French Art de Vivre to the world.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
