Came here for a friend's birthday - the gimmick is of course that you enter through a pawn shop. However, the gimmick doesn't take away form the food - it's great brunch food. Drinks are good, just overpriced but that's to be expected at a place like this.

Atmosphere is exotic, imaginative, and fun (but a bit tacky if you look too closely), Staff attentive and efficient BUT cold, unfriendly and arrogant. Made the experience very flat.Food: there is the real issue. Terrible. Only good small dish we ordered (out of 5) was the oysters which had not been ruined by an overly inventive manipulation. 'Famed' dumplings in... More

Came here on my last night in New York after being recommended by some colleagues. The good: *amazing decor *delicious cocktails (I recommend the beauty elixir) *really friendly staff *delicious food (I had the bolognese and my friend had the burger) *the bar area upstairs is great for a drink after dinner *you get a complimentary glass of rosé champagne... This place is definitely good for a special occasion night out but not if you're looking for quiet conversation - it's buzzing, its busying and noisy. Having said that its great fun, the decor is very different and the food is super. All small tapas sharing plates that will have you ordering at least two of a couple things and... More

Quite frankly words do no justice. I think on a quiet night this is an amazing date night spot and for a busier evening, a night out with friends here is spot on. The food is diverse and as I noted, words do no justice however the grilled cheese dumplings (yes) were unreal. I loved the scallops and ribs and... More

They charged $8 for still water. Really? Drinks watered down. Creative food ... but over-priced. Not impressed.

The atmosphere is delicious, the attention by the staff is perfect. We had several items that we liked and loved Octopus cassoulet was good, pressed chicken was to die for, avocado toast was delicious, crab Rangoon also good and do not miss the box of donuts nor the dark chocolate peanut butter mouse. Cocktails were extremely good and they even... More

This place is really busy at night, so if you like noisy places this is your spot! It's hiding behind a music store, which is quite cool because you don't realize how big it is until you're inside.

Cool, hopping place. Food is interesting, and generally outstanding. Fish tacos were particularly good. Eggplant pizetta was fine, though not remarkable. I've been twice before with ~10 work colleagues, and that was a lot of fun.

Went for Sunday Brunch and just a great choice. The funky store you go through was a great distraction while waiting on line to be seated. Placed completely filled up (reservations only for Brunch and you may want to call early in the week) yet Chef accommodated my request to have our items come out one at a time. We... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
