Clever entrance through a pawn shop into a beautiful, glamorous restaurant. Truly a unique experience when visiting NY. Make your reservations early as they book up. Interior can be rather loud especially if you're sitting next to a loud group. Food is served tapas style. The main courses are ample sized. The appetizers are delicious and unusual. The grilled cheese... More

What a gem!! Wonderfull food and great service. Food was absolutely fantastic and especially ravioli was probably the Best ravioli I have ever tasted! Great vibe, decor and people - Highly recommend this place! Watch out for the cocktails - they are great but strong!

Ended up here after a recommendation from a friend, we stepped out of the cab and paused for a moment bc we thought we were in the wrong place...the restaurant was right in front of us! We had to wait for our table but not very long, the menu had so many choices but the waitress helped us pare it... More

Tied for my favorite speak easy (with Back Room as the other) of the 6 we tried. This was an amazing experience from pawn shop to dinner to drinks. Beautiful, enormous restaurant. Our waiter was very helpful in recommending dishes to try as it was our first time. (Try the grilled cheese and tomato soup bites. Divine. Could have been... More

hip, cool, with tapas style food and proficient service. Clever entrance thru pawn shop back door. Food definitely is a step up from what you would expect from a hot spot. The burger was so good. Anyone in LES should def check this one out

We went here for brunch on my birthday and it was excellent! I was hesitant when I made our reservation because I use a wheelchair and there was no elevator to get upstairs to the champagne brunch, but the regular brunch downstairs was incredible! The decor is great and the food is awesome. We had the avocado toast and it... More

Beauty and Essex was lovely inside, beautifully decorated, although a little dark. Unfortunately my seat was on the aisle and I got bumped every time someone walked past, smaller tables would be better. The menu is not extensive, but enough options. One of my tables selections came out cold and had to go back. I had the burger, which wasn't... More

Loved the atmosphere here. My best friend and I went here on a Friday night. The place was packed, music fun, and the patrons were friendly but polite. I'm not much of a bar person, but the drinks were great, and even though it was loud inside, we were still able to enjoy our conversation.

Soho restaurant with a twist...Expensive Pawn shop at the front and a surprise when the back doors are opened. Servers were attentive, food was interesting and unique atmosphere. Ladies,...have to check out the restrooms - classy.

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
