So the place is beautiful of course. It looks so exclusive, like something out of the movies. You walk into a place that looks like a furniture store on the outside and keep walking to the back and your in a grand room. Even the bathrooms are amazing! The upstairs is amazing, they play great music and the staff is... More

This place is swarming. It does not look like a restaurant, as there is a store in front of it. They told us that it was previously a furniture store. We did reserve the place for a diner. Unfortunately it was so busy that it took them 45 minutes to get our table ready. The food is excellent and has... More

Love this spot! So happy to go back again and see that it's still fabulous! Our one hiccup was when we checked in for our reservation. The hostess wasn't very friendly and she took the buzzer after it went off and forgot to tell the other hostess to seat us. So I had to go up and be a pushy... More

It starts in an ordinary pawn shop, and takes you through a back door to the chic restaurant. Went for a friend's birthday! It was the perfect girls night out place! Dim, chandeliers everywhere, and AMAZING food! They take reservations, but I would get there early if you want to be sat right away.

The atmosphere is incredible and the food is even better! We had the tomato soup dumplings (You must get these), the burger, chicken meatballs, mushroom ravioli, and the donuts. Everything was so flavorful and excellent! The crowd here was young and vibrant. My only warning is that this place is loud and they have a DJ playing music. For us... More

Definitely not one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. Food is good but not excellent but well laid out. A bit 'too expensive. But its cocktails are really good, if you don't want to dine I suggest you try their "pink panther".

The WPA built the Essex Street Market in 1940, I came along a few years later, and now part of it is an unbelievable restaurant. Speakeasy entrance, circular stairway with 2 story chandelier and loads of ambience. Food is to die for......especially the grilled cheese dumplings. Pricey but an adventure and a great memory for my BIG birthday!!

Thank glgerri

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
