We visited Beauty and Essex last year and loved everything about it but.....everything can change in a year! I was so looking forward to visiting but this time they appear to have become really pretentious, the food was just ok the service was off hand in general apart from our actual waitress who was lovely but the rest of the... Food tasted well, but was cold. Server made an error and acted like it wasn't his fault. A little pushy. Enjoyed the atmosphere, had the service been better, we would have enjoyed it more. Would try again.
What an amazing place. When you pull up outside you can't possibly be prepared for what you will see when you enter the door at the back of the shop. You feel like you've just been let into a secret. This is a happening place. The food is excellent the service is amazing. The only problem is if you've booked... More
Book for Sunday evening with friends, place is really funky and a young vibe. Waiter was good and suggested dishes, starters we went for were beef carpaccio, tuna, fish tacos. Mains were excellent, lamb chops to die for, beef short ribs, pasta and prawns. In the ladies toilets you they get free fizz! Great place that would have 5 out... More
Lovely dinner and great atmosphere. Staff was wonderful and great service . Food was amazing. Would definitely return again . Very romantic restaurant.
Came here for a friend's birthday - the gimmick is of course that you enter through a pawn shop. However, the gimmick doesn't take away form the food - it's great brunch food. Drinks are good, just overpriced but that's to be expected at a place like this.
Atmosphere is exotic, imaginative, and fun (but a bit tacky if you look too closely), Staff attentive and efficient BUT cold, unfriendly and arrogant. Made the experience very flat.Food: there is the real issue. Terrible. Only good small dish we ordered (out of 5) was the oysters which had not been ruined by an overly inventive manipulation. 'Famed' dumplings in... More
Came here on my last night in New York after being recommended by some colleagues. The good: *amazing decor *delicious cocktails (I recommend the beauty elixir) *really friendly staff *delicious food (I had the bolognese and my friend had the burger) *the bar area upstairs is great for a drink after dinner *you get a complimentary glass of rosé champagne... This place is definitely good for a special occasion night out but not if you're looking for quiet conversation - it's buzzing, its busying and noisy. Having said that its great fun, the decor is very different and the food is super. All small tapas sharing plates that will have you ordering at least two of a couple things and... More

What is the dress code like here for dinner on a weekend? I've read different things on different websites. Thanks.
Is it possible/necessary to book for the Bar upstairs for New Year's Eve as we want to go there after about 10pm?
Hi we are going in a few weeks and just wondered if beauty and Essex is in the meat packing district?
I woud like to book dinner reservations for a group of 16 year old girls. Is there a time limit on when they are permitted in the restaurant?
