Stopped here for lunch, the beers my husband and I had were delicious and smooth. We had appetizers of pretzel bites (jalapeño/cheddar) & potato cakes. There were only 3 of each and they were very small but the flavor was terrific. $9 each seems steep since I don't live in NYC but caliber of restaurant was very good. My son... More

Easy reservations and not too crowded Sat. evening. Service is very good with cheerful pretty waitresses. There are few German restaurants anymore unfortunately because there can be good food. Here they offered many entrees with multiple variations of schnitzel and good red cabbage and spaetzle. Also good band from Munich.

The beer is very good, original. I was disappointed by the food. Small portions and my pork shank was dry and warmed again so really bad. Schnitzel was good bad small piece. Service was ok, but next time I would drink only.

We had a great experience here. After Steuben day parade .. Quite a crowd. Our waitress was adorable and efficient. German food was authentic and pretty good (not best in city but solid ). Fun. Not sure why some reviews are bad. Pretzels were fresher than Hofbräuhaus in Munich in my opinion. Beer choices were excellent.

This is a very nice space and the beer is authentic. The food is ok. I went looking for real German food but came away disappointed. It was OK but I will not go back.

The appearance and ambience are quite nice and traditional, reminding me of home, giving you an immediate comfortable feeling. Staff is also friendly and nice. The first feeling of consternation is when the waitress askes whether you want to open a tap. Despite stating that this was a dine in only, "the manager insists that a credit card will be... More

The beer here is OK (even in Munich Hofbrau is below average), the pretzels are good but I wouldn't recommend anything else - the food is expensive, mediocre and the portions are small. Service at the bar is good but table service is not. They really need to be more selective in their choice of bands as well...

I visited this place with a group of eight friends, mostly foreigners visiting the U.S. as guests of the United States Department of State. Our checks were between $25-45. Two days later, we check our bank accounts and 6 of us have been overcharged. I signed a $25 check, and was charged and additional $308.66. A colleague got his check... More

The beer, food, and atmosphere were authentic German. However, the Polka Brothers were playing and is was insanely loud. I was sitting directly across from my daughter and we were screaming at each other, but still couldn't really hear or have a conversation. We resorted to texting each other. Not the relaxing end to a fun day in NYC that... More

Yes in plain English, wonderful but those of us who with visit the fatherland know what word to use to describe this haus! My football colleagues and I gathered here to watch the 2016 Champions league final. Needless to say there were no German teams taking part, however our host were very generous and made everyone feel welcome. It was... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
