We were looking to eat in Little Italy without a reservation and ended up queuing at Sofia's. The restaurant was packed (and so was any other place in LI). Once being seated, it was pretty chaotic and sloppy service. Nevermind that, but the food was unfortunately not great especially for the money. We could have made better Italian ourselves. To... Terribly overpriced Very small portions Service was awful. Girl outside the door encouraged us "if you don't like it, you don't pay" Don't fall for this con like we did.

Got pulled in off the street by the barker - should have kept walking! Service is poor, food flung on the table at you! We both had pasta dishes gnocchi and carbonara both bland and gnocchi wasn't cooked properly. Even the peroni was flat... Please don't get fooled by the barker keep walking

The barker pulled us in when we were just hungry for anything, and I wish we'd kept walking. Had the risotto and it was average. Not at all melt in your mouth like a good risotto should be. The waiter was the only one that knew the menu at all, as those assisting with food and beverage delivery couldn't even... More

Had eggplant rollatini, mushroom risotto and veal cannolini. Really good, especially the eggplant. This is my new go to in Little Italy!

We were walking up and down Mulberry Street. The "barker" said if we don't like it we don't pay....Well, we paid because we finished every bit of our food. Attentive staff, friendly and delicious food. Highly recommend it.

We were a group of 7 looking for dinner in Little Italy. Easy you would think. Trying to look at a menu without be jumped on by street barkers was impossible. Needless to say the best street salesman won with talk of homemade, genuine Italian cooks, Italian owned etc. Well, it wasn't that good. The food had a feeling of... More

The place is hectic, loud and fun. We were a group of 6 on a Saturday evening. With our reservation we were seated fairly quickly, at a very small table. My meal was poor, but others at the table looked OK. My caesar salad included finely chopped iceberg lettuce, limp with a very thin dressing and sweet(!?!) with cranberries. My... More

My friend and I went for dinner and both ordered spaghetti with clams. We did get tiny clams and spaghetti but also lots of sand. We have never had seafood with sand! It was not terrible! My friend returned her food and was offered a glass of alcohol on house which is fine but not satisfactory. We have left the... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
