Fast, casual, delicious seafood

I've frequented The Lobster Place since I was in middle school, and always bring friends along when we're in Chelsea. The sushi is as good as pre-made sushi gets in the area (although you can request specific rolls as well), and the lobster bisque and clam chowder are my two favorite soups. Great... read more

We found during our trip randomly the Chelsea market. Waow it's an incredible place with a beautiful architecture. We ate at the Lobster place. We took some sushis (very fresh and tasty) and not expensive. After we ate a lobster (never eat a lobster like this way). It was very tasty. When I will come back to NYC, I will... More

Wow. This is an impressive seafood market hall. Lost of fresh seafood. Excellent looking Yellowfin Tuna. Plenty of fast takeaway sushi. Not many tables or benches to sit at (mainly standing room only, so not comfortable for family lunch. More where people go to purchase fresh seafood to cook at home.

Locals come here to get their fresh seafood to cook at home. It's probably by far the only competition in a one-mile radius. As for their cooked food, you cannot beat their $20 lunch box that comes with a lobster roll, a beverage, a cookie and chips.

Do your self a favor and go for the Sushi Bar inside the Lobster Place. Seat down calmly and order the Tasting Menu of the chef... and prepared to be amazed. Service is just perfect. Food is absolutely amazing... and don't try to put extra soy sauce on the sushi or the chef will get ANGRY. LOL

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
