During our Manhattan vacation, Mom decided to treat the family to a dinner at the Statler Grill. We entered through the back entrance (from a hallway in the hotel) and were directed towards the front by a couple of workers who were sitting at a table wrapping silverware. It was a bit of an awkward introduction to the restaurant, but... More

Lots of places to eat in NYC and in/around this area. This restaurant is just ok. Funny thing is, as I was looking for a place for dinner I found this one on Yelp! and mine was the last review. Interestingly, as I was there in 2012. That should have been a sign, but we went anyway. It was OK.... More

We were on our way to see Billy Joel at the Garden and checked Trip Advisor for good restaurants in the area. We decided on the Statler Grill based on the reviews. We made a reservation but arrived early so we decided to have a drink in the bar. A waiter came almost immediately to take our order and our... More

Sometimes it isn't fair to judge a restaurant on meals shared by a group. Some people get the good stuff and some get the ordinary stuff;and everybody tries to be a perfect mix of gracious (as they grab the chicken leg) and goal directed (as they snaffle the potato chips). The beer was good and the service was very good.... More

This was our second visit to this restaurant. We had come last year and had a good experience. This time we went with friends, a couple, from out of town. We were using a Groupon for 4 people that included 2 bottles of wine, both white and red. We used a Groupon to save some money, as we often do.... More

Enjoyed an early dinner at Statler Grill.. Really close to MSG. Service was really good. Appetizer were small but tasty Steak was fork tender and cooked to perfection. Sides were classic steak house fare. Would return anytime

Looking for a place to eat close to MSG we found this place and what a result. Excellent staff, right from the greeting through to bar and table and waiter service. Faultless. The food was very good with a not too exhaustive menu which we prefer. The seabass was great. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There was... More

Was here with friends one night after eating at another restaurant so only had a small ap. Ate here a day later and it was so so. Very pricy for what you get. The entrees come with nothing else on the plate, ours did anyway, but we did hear the next table being offered sides. I had a tuna dish... More

$99 Groupon deal not worth it... my daughter and I went, 1st you have to order off of a groupon menu, OK. Appetizer was good but she order an alternative appetizer they offer for $8. She had salmon, I had sirloin steak, nice portion but didn't melt in my mouth, had better. They offered a shared plate of mash potato... More

The Statler Grill harkens back to the golden age of the big band era, and is named after Ellsworth Statler, who ran the Hotel Pennsylvania from 1919 to 1954, when musicians such as Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Glenn Miller played at the Cafe Rouge, the hotel's main dining room. The Statler serves classic New York steakhouse prime steaks and chops as well as daily delivered fresh seafood, while the bar and lounge serve a delicious grill menu. Located just steps away from Pennsylvania Station and Madison Square Garden, it is the perfect place to have a breakfast meeting, a meal before an event at the Garden, or just to relax with friends and co-workers during happy hour before you hop on the train. It is all about the food and service says owner Joseph Lavelle. "I want my guests to enjoy themselves, have a great meal and return again and again".
