It is easy to find an Irish bar/restaurant in NYC. Finding a place that is Scottish is special. Highlands is a treat for those who appreciate the difference. Tucked away on a corner of the street in the West Village, Highlands in small, intimate, and welcoming, much like Scotland itself. A "must have"is the Scotch eggs, which we've had in... More

Highlands in the Village which had great service, Kemmy is a wonderful host. They take reservations and we were shown right in to our table. Had the haggis, not super traditional but a great dish regardless. Everyone was happy with food, decor and service. Extensive whiskey menu.

We had a fantastic walk on The Highlands in New York City. We stopped several places for drinks and lunch. This is a must when you visit New York.

Stumbled on this place by accident, one hot early evening. Great cocktails & delicious sharing platter by candlelight. Thin, warm, home made naan bread accompanied bowls of delights! We only realised how popular it was when the place flooded with people a little later on. Definitely recommend!

Having learned about that place by accident we couldn't be more happy and excited that day. That is a great place to have dinner with friends or your best half. The place is greatly decorated and very comfortable and cozy so you just feel relaxed. The food is exquisite and delicious, and the way it's served just fantastic! A separate... More

I frequent the West Village and this has become one of my go-to spots. The food is always great, menu updates frequently, good service and cocktails. It's quite small so the bar noise can often be a bit disturbing during dinner but that is not atypical.

Twelve of us had dinner here. I started with the green salad, which came with house vinegarette. Very disappointed, bland greens and vinegarette was not good at all, not just my opinion. Now I get to main entrée, I had the chicken, and the flavor so in that bowl were amazing. I am sure that every one of us was... More

We visited Highlands on a Sunday night to celebrate my daughters birthday. The atmosphere was amazing, a perfect mix of cool and lively, warm and friendly. The restaurant staff were attentive and helpful. It was no trouble to accommodate a special request from my daughter and the food lived up to the excellent service, thank you Jake. Our bartender, Adam,... More

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
