About
The Wheeltapper celebrates the best of a traditional Irish pub, offering contemporary food and drink in an informal atmosphere. Together with the year-round outdoor Patio, this restaurant and bar is the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, dinner, or cocktails. As fitting for a pub so close to Grand Central Terminal, the Wheeltapper's design includes authentic railroad artifacts and memorabilia from the turn of the century. Cozy and warm, the Wheeltapper's two bars, front and back, are comprised of quaint nooks for semi-private dining or drinking, and connected by the Carriage, a passage that closely resembles a classic railroad dining car. A fireplace warms up the back bar

As the weather was a bit inclement for a couple of evenings we popped in here from he Fitzpatrick Grand Central next door. Very good indeed, good meals and good beers, nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. Well worth a look.

We ate twice in The Wheeltapper, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both meals were lovely and staff were very friendly. It has a lovely atmosphere with a beer garden out the back. There is a tarpaulin cover for when it rains that they...More

This pub has a lovely back patio that is open to the sky on nice sunny day and has covers and heaters for less nice days. Very nice stop if you are near Grand Central.

Decent little pub which is attached to the Fitpatrick Hotel, Grand Central. The food was good if not great. Busy spot especially on a Thursday and Friday evening where the after work party group seem to gather. Pretty nice outdoor area as well for those...More

We stayed in the Fitzpatrick Grand Central for a week and we ate almost all of our meals in the Wheeltapper, which is just downstairs. Lovely friendly atmosphere with very helpful staff. Breakfast was fabulous every day! Evening menu doesn't have a great selection but...More

Within a few yards of Grand Central Station, this railway themed bar is an unexpected delight. On entering, there’s a small bar, with a few tables, and a lovely intimate atmosphere. There’s a very friendly welcome and prices are reasonable, especially in happy hour. Where...More

I met friends here for an early dinner on my most recent visit to NYC. I was pleasantly surprised to find lighter fare on the menu in addition to traditional Irish pub favorites. I enjoy a fresh, crisp salad of spring veggies while my friends...More

We didn't eat in the pub so can't comment on the food, but we did visit a few times for a beer as we were staying in the hotel adjacent. In the early evenings in the week it gets very busy, & has a fun...More

This place looks (and feels) beat-up - which is normal for authentic Irish pubs, but then, where's a selection of beer resembling that of Irish pubs? It's just not there, the beer card is lousy, I wonder who put it together: your run-of-the-mill American brews...More
