Very busy and small place on 39th between 8th and 9th Avenue. They know they are good in a confident, but not arrogant way. The menu had many more interesting choices, but I wanted their Lasagne Traditionale. Delicious! It melted in my mouth. The ingredients blended well together, so when you took a bite you tasted the whole product -... More

Here the food speaks with confidence. The restaurant is located a few dozen steps south of the Port Authority Bus terminal in a very busy section of the city. It looks quite unpromising from the outside, especially compared to the smart looking Greek place a couple of doors away. But I hope they keep it as it is because that... More

Shame - great character place - just very bland food. 2 dishes, did not eat beyond one bite (still charged). Although did not even eat any of the desert - they still insisted on charging - creating an uncomfortable vibe.

We had a great meal at Mercato. All of the food was good, but the gnocchi was the stand-out for me. Good gnocchi is fabulous, but too often restaurants completely miss the mark. Mercato did a great job with the gnocchi and our other dishes as well. The staff was very great. It is a small place, so do be... More

What a pleasant surprise! We were visiting out daughter in NYC, and chose this restaurant because it happens to be in the same block where my daughter lives, and because of positive online reviews. From the outside, it just looks like a small neighborhood joint I would probably never venture in. Once inside, perception starts to change as it is... More

In a normally desolate (for good food choices) zone before you hit the Times Square and above zone, this small(ish) restaurant with a rather unappealing entrance closer to 9th Avenue is a treat. A tiny seating area and bar opens up to a slightly larger area inside and while you are sitting rather close to other patrons, the food and... More

We had a very enjoyable dinner here. We were four, and everyone thought the food was very tasty with fresh ingredients. The service was very good, but I have to add that we were there early on a Saturday night. The only negative was the decaf coffee which cost $4.50 each. I thought that was too high.

The lasagna was celebrity in texture and creamy. Well worth the $17 value. The bruschetta had 3 small pieces of bread separately topped w mushrooms Olive tamponade and tomtaoes- tasty bit small portioned. The grouper special was bland and tasteless if not overdone and for $35 not worth it.

I stopped in here for dinner one night recently. The place is small but very cute! I ate at the bar which had 5-6 seats. Decent wine selection. I had the spaghetti and it was fine. Staff was nice and the place is clean.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
