Came to Two Little Red Hens, which calls itself "An American Bakery" to try their Brooklyn Blackout Cake. It did not disappoint. This cake was invented by Ebinger's Bakery and named after the blackout curtains New Yorkers used in WWII. The cake is layers of devils food cake with chocolate pudding filling and deep, rich chocolate icing. Nicely done hens,... More

Two little red hens is my favorite NYC bakery. Small but cute with a few tables to sit. Personnel is very polite. Coffee is good. There is long lines for cupcakes in the mornings but totally worth the wait. Tried the chocolate, peanut butter and red velvet cupcakes. My favorite is definitely the red velvet. Soft and moist with a... More

Two Little Red Hens, which is a neat little bakery that serves up cupcakes, coffee, and other good pastries. Shelly ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake and I ordered the Cinnamon Roll. Both were superb. The cupcake was moist with a good amount of frosting on top. The Cinnamon Roll was very good and there were a few white raisins... More

This is one of my favorite neighborhood bakeries! The other night, I had a gingerbread craving. These cravings usually come during the holiday season, between 6 and 10 pm. At 830 pm I ventured out of my apartment (in my PJs) to indulge this craving. After a 5 minute walk, I saw that Two Little Red Hens was open and... More

Its all about the cake. My wife remembers a bakery named Ebingers that has long since been closed. She heard that Two Little Red Hens makes a cake similar to the Ebingers' blackout cake. Two Little Red Hens calls it the Brooklyn Blackout Cake so the next time that we were in NYC, we headed directly over to Two Little... More

Visited in October 2015 while visiting family that live in the area. I bought delicious chocolate cupcakes and cranberry scones. Both were perfect and fabulous. Can't wait to go back for more!

How such a small place can pack such an astounding amount of sugary goodness is beyond human comprehension! I tasted (read: devoured) their chocolate fudge cake (or was it the Brooklyn Blackout Cake? I am not sure as it was custom made for the occasion) at a friend's birthday and couldn't stop raving about it (or eating it!) I also... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
