Booked this restaurant for dinner as a special treat with family while in NYC. The decor is relaxing and modern, but understated. The staff were extremely attentive and welcoming theoughout. The food was excellent. We tried the tomato burrata, the salmon tartare, the steaks and the halibut and a particular highlight was the risotto. Everything was delicious. A great evening... More

My wife and I very much enjoyed our evening at this restaurant. The food was full of energy and a delight to the taste buds which was basically the line I read well before reserving. It is a classy place, of that there is no doubt and there is very little that can one can be critical about. Maybe a... More

We had a great meal here and celebrated an occasion, which came with a lovely personal touch (thank you!). Our waitress was really attentive and had some really good suggestions with regards to accompaniments for our meal, for example her suggestion of the chef's selections of oysters and mushrooms went down really well. The only negative; too much salt. Literally,... More

We were unfashionably late to our dinner reservation. The host was gracious and found a way to accommodate us after a reasonable wait which we really deserved. The wait was well worth it because we had a terrific experience. The menu was rich with choices of fish & seafood, meat and vegetables, offered grilled, roasted or braised. They offered several... Service is excellent and presentation's great. Carving the huge slab for two at the table attracted lots of attention. That's when it all falls flat. My tastebuds felt seared by the level of saltiness and I absolutely couldn't bear any more of that. Such a pity, given the meat costs $130! Not recommended for most; only if you have a... More

I had the pleasure of dining at Craft last week as I was celebrating my birthday. Our waiter Caesar did a wonderful job explaining the flow of the menu as well as recommending options for the courses. I had the roasted scallops and my spouse had the braised halibut. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. In fact, the scallops had... More

The food was above my expectations and the service was impeccable! I attended the restaurant for the first time for a business meeting. Environment and space: This is a good size restaurant with respect to space. There were many tables but with sufficient space that we did not feel crowded at all. Our table was even situated near the small... More

Not sure where to start, so many good things to say. I did the awful ... I brought an 8yo with me. I would not suggest this restaurant as child friendly; it's clearly an elegant place where people are spending a great deal of money to have a lovely evening. My daughter is one of 'those' kids; I think she... More

I've been a regular customer of Craft for many years. The ambience is elegant but casual, always moderate or quiet sound levels; the selection of foods varies, but there are always old favorites as well as new choices -- an abundance! The selection of wines is also abundant, and there is a wide price range, with many quite reasonable; the... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
