I would consider this a typical NYC diner - good breakfast for the family and not overpriced. Teenagers were full after eating here - which is a great thing!

The Flame is one of those places where the food is fast but really good and the waitresses speak fast and deliver faster There always seems to be room for one more table no matter how full the place looks. The eggs with home fries are superb

This diner is really good. The card is huge but we quickly picked from the lunch part. I had a cuban monte sandwich which was good but the fried bananas was fantastic. We were all very satisfied. Talked about going there again but it did not fit in.

We used this diner 3 times whilst recently on a 5 night stay in NYC. Cheaper breakfasts than our hotel! Service was very quick, bottomless coffee nice and strong. It seemed very popular with locals and tourists. Nothing fancy but decent enough. Cost around $30 for breakfast for two. Recommend the Red Flame omelette!

So here's the thing about The Flame Diner-Restaurant (I don't know why it's called this on Tripadvisor...the sign says "Red Flame Diner") - the food is earnestly, blissfully average in the best/most American way possible: the cheeseburger is a tiny bit rubbery and decidedly un-gourmet (good old American freezing / storage techniques were used for all foods, it seems). The... More

Visited this place yesterday morning for breakfast having been here prior when we came to nyc a few yrs back and my god the difference was night and day. The waiters/waitresses treat you like you are a chore to them and are only interested when you have money in your hand. We were given the bill and waited for few... More

Very convenient location about half way between Grand Central and Times Square. Food is very good, served fast, and bottomless coffee which is also quite good.

If you're looking for a typical American breakfast, this is a nice place to go. It's nice, quiet and cozy, and service is quite good. Sandwiches are also very tasty here. It`s not fancy and prices are fair.

The Red Flame was a couple of minutes walk from our accommodation at The Iroquois. What a gem of a place. We knew it would be good based on the people we saw in there and the size of the meals. The great service is the first thing thing you notice followed by the wide variety of food choices. The... More

During our stay at the Hudson Hotel, we found this place was the pace to start your day and definitely trumped the hotel breakfast. You're firstly made to feel incredibly welcome, the customer service is exceptional and found the food of good quality, both satisfying and filling. On most occasions, the Diner was full and obviously a regular for many... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
