Small, intimate place. Run by real Italians, which shows up in the food. The place isn't particularly flashy - I feel as if many people probably pass it by, but inside past the bar it's nice and cozy with brick walls and little Italian signs here and there. Cute place and the prices are fair and the food is really good. Of note is the brick oven pizza -The service is very friendly and generally pretty snappy. The Backyard is now open. Buon Appetito !

Great Food and Personable Owner

We had a party of 7 and from the moment we walked in, Alessandro made me feel like I was walking into a relatives house. Food was great and being Italian I don't give that compliment too often. The ravioli with prosciutto and egg plant in marinara was very flavorful with just the right amount of... read more

My husband, son and I went here last week. The place is cozy and the menu was plentiful. However, the portions were miniscule. My husband's chicken, which was very tasty, did not come with any sides and was just two thin pieces of chicken. My son's pasta was enough for your average 10 year old (he's 21). My meal was... Not only is the food superb, and it is. The welcome we received at the door and the attentive table service was wonderful. This is a great place if you want to talk with your table mates. We were a group of 10, all seated in a spacious booth which made it easy for us to enjoy each other's company... More

We asked for a recommendation from the concierge and he led us to this small quaint place. The food was made with fresh ingredients and was the best place we ate during our stay. We were given a complimentary piece of tiramisu that was out of this world! I had chicken Marsala and my husband had the pasta special with... More

Be aware that there is another "Carbone" restaurant. This one is on W38th street. It is a small, welcoming, beautiful restaurant. We spent four nights in NYC and we ate here twice. On the two nights when we ate elsewhere, I wish we'd eaten here! This is a restaurant where hospitality is an end in itself. A simple amuse bouche... More

You truly feel like you are in Italy in this charming restaurant. The owner, Alessandro, treated us like family in his own home. The waitress, Sass, treated our children like she was their auntie. She made them origami animals and made them feel very special. The food was amazing as was the wine. We will be back next time we... More

Had a meal with colleagues and the food was simply spectacular, with an atmosphere to match. The service was also very attentive and intelligent. The restaurant was full and clearly has a strong following. Hard to think of how the food could have been better

Went with a group of 8. We were seated outside on a cool evening. They must have forgotten us. It took 30 mins to get a menu. Another 30 to get our meal. And when we did they forgot one of our guest's food. No apologies not even a word. We waited another 20 mins for the last dinner to... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
