Enjoyed a very nice early-evening dinner with friends here. The wait staff were very accommodating for our very mixed group of old friends, new friends, and children. The menu had something for everybody and the meal that we had (Sheppard's Pie and French Onion soup) was right on the spot. Nice bar with good selection of beers and wines.

We visited on one of the most popular days of the year for eating out, but the service was pretty quick and professional. The food was all prepared well, although I think the salmon was a little overcooked for “medium” — I would suggest asking for “medium rare” if you are looking for a noise center to your fish. The starters were very rich and flavourful. The entrees were more balanced, and the sides matched the meats nicely. We reserved for the “dinner room”, but it looks like the place is open-plan along with the bar, so it might not be as quiet for conversation as you might think, but it wasn’t overly loud either.

Check the web site and go during their extensive happy hours. The food and drink specials change daily. The restaurant has a great, clean look and provided a pleasant environment for food or beverages. The wooden fixtures including the bar set this venue apart from the usual bar with pub food. The shepherds pie was served piping hot. Service was proficient. Great location in midtown at 8th Av and W 37th in the Garment district so not far from MSG, Penn Station and Times Square. Would go back. If you find this information helpful please click the link below to let us know.

We ordered fish and chips. The cod was amazing the fries not they were soft and moist and the ketchup contained high fructose corn syrop. The waiter was nice however she had no clue what kinda fruits were in the ipa as we had a allergy in the group and the other reason why they didn’t deserve better is that they automatically added 20% tip
To the bill! Sorry that’s up to the guest he/she decides not the waiter! And I normally tend to tip 25% so this was a once and never again !

First impression was not great. The person who greeted us, it seemed like he was annoyed that we stopped in. There were 4 people in the entire place which should have told us something.
Ordered two pints of Guinness- were charged for two pints but the serving glass was 12 oz.
Ordered some boneless wings (chicken tenders) asked if they could be served tossed in buffalo sauce and with a side of ranch and blue cheese.
The food took a really long time considering we were the only people at a table the other few people in were at the bar.
When the food came it was tenders served with a side of bbq sauce.
I advised that we asked for them to be tossed in sauce and he rudely said “we don’t do that.” I said “you don’t do what?” He said “we don’t toss the tenders in sauce.” I said “the waiter should have told us that when we ordered.” So he just stood there staring at me. Finally he snatched the plate up and handed it to someone walking by and said “they want these tossed in wing sauce.” And he walked away. It took about their 20 minutes for the food to come back- no blue cheese, no ranch. So I asked for blue cheese and ranch. They brought ranch still no blue cheese. I had to ask again.
The chicken tasted like Tyson frozen chicken- the cheap flat tenders not the ones that look and taste like chicken. They was absolutely terrible.
That was my first last and only trip into this place. Terrible food, Terrible service.

Avoid!!!
We popped in earlier this week for a drink & from start to finish it was just terrible service. It was busy so you do expect delays but the staff were just so rude!
We waited 30 mins to order drinks & when we would try to catch someone’s eye to order they would literally blank you, ages to get the drinks then we asked for the bill 4 times!! Every time we spoke to a member off staff they were like ‘what??’ Eye rolling, all arguing between themselves, serious attitude problems.
Annoyed at myself for leaving the change when we paid for our drinks but we waited 15 minutes & my partner said we were just wasting our evening waiting about. Worst bar we’ve visited in NYC

The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived Met by a someone who reminded me of a bouncer. It was just just me and a friend and we were told there was a high top table that we could have if “they” cleaned it off. We stood and waited, two other groups of 2 came in behind us. We waited longer and the host bouncer guy told us he didn’t know what “they” were waiting on but he wasn’t going to clear the table. In the meantime seats at the bar opened up and we asked if they served food there - we would just sit there. Same with one of the couples behind us. He said “sure if you want to go ahead”. The third couple waited a bit longer and then left because “they” never cleared the table. It was just odd. Who lets paying customers walk out the door when it isn’t necessary?
Our original server at the bar looked like it had been a long day. She could not have been less interested. A shift change happened and our new server was great. But we were served promptly, the food was good- fairly typical Irish Pub menu offerings.
I know I was in NYC- but in the 3 days I was there, this was the first time I felt like people were rude. So 3 stars for that.

We had an early dinner there. The food was very good, was served hot and our server was friendly and helpful. It was noisy but in a nice way - lots of chatter and laughter. More like a sports bar than a pub but that's not a criticism. We can go to a pub any day in the UK.

The best part about our experience was the kind and hard working server. The food was less than desirable and the ambiance was SOOOO loud that I left with a headache and sore throat from having to talk over the music and noise. I ordered a Turkey burger and it was over 4 inches thick which requires over grilling to cook all the way through. But then it just crumbled apart because of how bone dry it was….it was AWFUL! Couldn’t get down more than 3 bites. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich that was also so dry and dull. I can’t understand how this place has 5 star reviews

It was my first visit to the Houndstooth Pub and had a great time. The bartender really made the night. Aiden I think his name was, but all of the staff were great. Given the location near MSG, there are a lot of new traveling patrons and they made them all welcome it seemed. I didn’t eat here, but the food from nearby tables looked very good. From MSG it is a close walk and worth the few minutes to walk two or three blocks.

Uninterested staff to begin and the food was second rate at best! Our chicken fingers and loaded wedges looked and tasted so bad we left them and were not encouraged to order anything else! Such a pity as location is great

Stopped here for q quick bite to eat just before the Big East basketball tournament and St Patrick's Day and couldn't have been more disappointed, The food was mediocre at best and the waiter seemed to be angry at something and made no attempt to even show the least amount of effort. He couldn't even be polite when presenting the check. Awful place, too many other goof options in NYC to dine here.

Saturday early dinner. Even at 5:30 the place was busy but we were seated right away. Service was great, food was awesome. Nice diverse menu but not too vast that you have a hard time choosing. The meatloaf, chicken pot pie, Granny Smith apple salad, house salad and French onion soup were all amazing. We would go back!

We had dinner twice, both the sandwich and the pork rib cooked in beer were excellent. The price of the menu is proportionate to the good quality of the meat. It should be noted that the kitchen closes at 10pm, as in almost all restaurants in New York

A classic pub in the city with the usual menu suspects on there. A variety of drinks on tap as well as bottles and draught soda. It is trying to be an English Pub which the décor and menu are very typical and somewhat traditional of this. However, that does make it overpriced for the type of food it is, however it is in New York City so typical tourist prices. We had the Fish & Chips and Pasta Primavera, which were fine, but nothing stands out about them. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was quick to be served which are bonuses.

Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
