Passed by several times and we finally decided to go out on a cold night and experience the place. Great idea. The staff are warm and welcoming, Art works are colorful and quite interesting. You see the cooks working away at the open kitchen in the middle of the long and deep space. Cute place. My test dish for Brazilian... More

Just go. I'm so excited to be going back again tonight. It is everything I love in a restaurant-really great welcoming staff, dimly lit, great music, really good drinks and amazing food. We had the Brazilian cheese bread, warm chewy and delicious, the sausage with fried yucca - ridiculously good, and shrimp with garlic to start. We both ordered steak... More

This was our 3rd time in Berimbau. The place is intimate and cozy. There are only a few tables, I would recommend a reservation. The place is clean which is a major plus. I had the codfish gratin, This was ok, my wife had the stroganoff inwhich she liked. The service is good and attentive. Great quiet location and the... More

Very nice restaurant in NYC! I discovered it during Halloween in Greenwich village and I was captivated by the colours of this typical restaurant! The menu is really Brasilian! I've eaten moqueca, açarajè, and a perfect maracuja capirigña! It seemed to be in Brasil! Perfect location and service! Instead, the prices were very competitive, and the tip is included in... More

Been in Brazil several times, and this restaurant is definitely a piece of Brazil in NYC! Tasty and original food, friendly staff, very honest prices. What else? Maybe, they do some confusion with reservations (I had to wait more than 15 minutes) but they found a good way to fix the mistake: they offer two caipirinhas and everybody was happy!

Traditional Brazilian food, very nice and attentive service, small restaurant full of flavor! My daughter's friend recommended this to her and we consider it a 'don't miss' place to eat. Authentic Brazilian food is delicious.

Description
With its narrow yet spacious dining room, exposed brick walls, and banquette seating, Berimbau, a new addition to New York's Brazilian restaurant scene, boasts an antiquated yet urban atmosphere. What's more, their diverse menu of traditionally prepared Brazilian plates leaves patrons' palates pleased.

There is a dish to please every member of your party. Portions are hearty, and the cuisine is indicative of Berimbau's renowned chef's ability to blend both traditional Brazilian flavors with New York diners' sensibilities. The caipirinhas are made to perfection and are a must to have. A variety of flavors is offered at this brazilian hot spot. For an evocative dining experience in the West Village, give this New York Brazilian restaurant a go. Berimbau, aptly named for a native Brazilian instrument, will indeed leave you singing for more.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
