Good wine and beer selection, creative menu and fun environment

Went here twice, once during off hours in afternoon with limited offerings (but decent burgers) and once with full menu in the evening for moule frites. Both times food was high quality, drinks were quick and the atmosphere was vibrant but not loud. Only minor quip here is that one beer I ordered... read more

The atmosphere of DBGB was excellent! I loved the quotes along the glass/mirrored walls, loved the well thought out and deigned menu, the drink menu was clever but their Bloody Mary was a let down. The Frenchie burger was my choice and, oh, how delicious it sounded! A 7 oz beef patty with pork belly, arugula, & morbier cheese on... More

My friends asked me to book a restaurant for Saturday night. I really like the Bowery area, and decided to go with DBGB. I had heard great things about it (especially their brunch). DB stands for "Daniel Boulud"; it is Chef Daniel Boulud’s downtown place where the French brasserie meets the American tavern. It was restaurant week in NYC, and... More

Terrific place for lunch and beer. Knowledge wait staff especially Jose on beer. Terrific food at modest prices.

One of Daniel Broulad's casual restaurants. Great meal. Started with little neck clams and oysters. Cold and fresh. Also shared his fabulous hot dog appetizer. For main course I had the Frenchie burger. Perfect!!

Very nice selection of meet dishes at this restaurant. I have been a couple of times over the years and have never been disappointed. It often gets crowded and quite noisy so if you don't like that this is not the place for you.

Love the little private dining spaces with the booths. Two of the five of us shared the prix fix brunch (others sampled too in addition to their orders) - lots of delicious food! Everyone enjoyed themselves with the great service we had and our waiter was a lot of fun.

We wanted a low-key, early dinner on New Year's Eve and DBGB was offering their normal menu at normal prices, which was great. The place was absolutely packed and had a great atmosphere. The burgers are relatively expensive but tasty, as were the starters (the portion of fries was on the small side), and the drink selection is good, with... More

We always come here after checking into our hotel, whist struggling to stay awake and get into the time zone. The salads are great, the atmosphere is laid back and fun but best of all is the French Burger. Pure, unadulterated bliss on a plate.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
