We visit Sofia wine bar every time we come to NYC, and loved it just as much this time as previous visits - a real neighborhood-style place in the city, a relaxed and warm atmosphere, and great, simple food. The service was excellent, and the wine selection and quality is superb. Sofia will continue to be our 'go to' place... More

Was meeting up with someone who was staying nearby and took a chance with going to Sofia's as I have never been there. The two people I met up with are huge wine drinkers and both said the wine was great and the selection very good. I am not a huge wine drinker so I would not feel comfortable even... More

Probably the biggest selling point for Sophia is its charm -- it is a small cozy intimate place, very pretty and sweet. Nice wine selection. The food is simple -- pizzas, paninis, chacuterie and the like, but fresh and good. I had an arugula salad, ample and well dressed and the eggplant parmigian -- it was tasty, albeit a little overwhelmed... More

lovely wine, service and atmosphere, a surprising find for this area. there are so many chains and eateries with no atmosphere around here but sophia's is warm, friendly and a lovely candlelit buzzing atmosphere! a must visit if you are staying locally

Leo and the gang there are fantastic and made a guy and his wife who live in Dallas (we are not Cowboy fans) feel like family! We spend 2 out of 3 nights closing the bar down! Go there....you will love it!

We ended up at Sofia because our original choice was closed due to a broken pipe. Very limited menu, but food was very good. It is very small and intimate. Because it is so small, the table next to us was very close and we felt like we were part of their conversation, a little off-putting, but not terrible. It... More

Sofia was recommended by a staff member of the Kimberly Hotel as being a respite for two weary travelers looking for a late night bite. Cozy atmosphere, good wine selection and tasty appetizers.

After fleeing the hotel "Lounge" (aka dance Club) where we hoped to enjoy the view and light fare, we wandered into Sofia. It's small and a bit crowded but the atmosphere was so warm and comfortable that the crowding seemed intimate. We had the Bruschetta trio with a meat and cheese platter, sipped a nice Sauvignon Blanc and relaxed while... More

One of our favorite places to go and take people who come in from out-of-town. Food is consistently good, atmosphere is great (can be a little loud because the place is very small), and we have always had solid service. Tiramisu is one of the best I've had. There pizza and salad are also excellent. No reservations taken so it... More

i saw some people write this was a romantic spot...not so... at first the dark vibe and small space might make you think it is but with people crowded one on top of another and loud music i do not think so. food is WAY overpriced......ordered appetizers. and a glass of wine...... someone said for a similar price you could... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
