I visited the location near Penn Station since it closes just after midnight after an early evening arrival into NYC. I arrived to no waiting and allowed to choose my own seat. Since there were plenty of seats to the side the hostess directed me to, I plopped down to my cubicle. Since it was in the midst of the Winter season, they had coat hooks behind my cubicle, along with a water dispenser. There is minimal talking between you and the server. I know I got a bit confused with what I ordered since I ended up getting double the pork, seaweed, and scallions. I did purposefully order a small portion, ½ kae-dama, of noodles. Overall I enjoyed my first Ichiran experience. The price was fair, even if I ordered a bit too much. The taste was very good and ranked among my favorites, though I am not much of a ramen connoisseur. I would definitely return on a wintry day.

Ichiran is one of the traditional eating places that you may find in Japan but this is in NY. I came here with my friend to try their soup. It has a long table but you sit facing the server area, not your company. Your company sits next to you both are divided by a divider on either side. So, it’s a place for one no matter how many people you go with. We both ordered ramen soups because that’s what they are known for. I gave the meat to my friend, so I indulged in the ramen vegetable soup. It was not bad at all. The broth was pretty tasty. The portion was pretty good too. It served with an egg on the side. It was a good day to have soup, raining and cold. If you want to experience this unique setting, come visit and have a soup or two.

First off, the food and the service was so amazing. What a unique experience, they are very serious about COVID safety but once we were seated in our own cubbies our waitress explained to us how to fill our order. The menu is simple and we went with the classic Tonkotsu ramen, witch is this very flavorful pork bone broth accompanied with traditional toppings. Prices are higher but this is non tipping establishment so it’s understandable. I know next time we’re in NYC, we’ll be back. Thank you for this multi sensory experience.

I've seen Ichiran in a number of Youtube videos and had to give it a try. The ramen is the best I've ever had - the broth is so rich, the portions are quite generous in size, and the dining experience is so unique. I love that you can personalize all the details to your own taste. My one complaint is that they lost my brothers' order and sent it to the wrong table. I had my bowl for over 10 minutes before he received his replacement, and we didn't get any word of what had happened until we flagged down a staff member. The staff were apologetic, but it did sour the experience somewhat. That said, I will definitely come back for another bowl of delicious, comforting ramen.

I don’t like giving reviews that are not 5 stars. But I need to be honest. The pros: taste is ALMOST as good as the ichiran in Japan. And definitely one of the better ones for nyc. The decor is almost the same as the ichiran in Japan. The cons: the wait time is 3x as long, both when you line up and AFTER you sit down in your booth. The price, is 3x as high, which I guess is related to the overall food price in the US. The service, it’s just ok, not as efficient or polite as the ichirans in Japan. So, overall it’s still an ok place, if you REALLY want the Japanese experience in nyc. Way overpriced. Being a New Yorker myself, I would recommend going to a New-York-centric place since you are here. And I suppose I’m biased since I’m comparing this location to the Ichirans in Japan.

Get there early to stand in line. The wait wasn't bad. Don't feel intimidated by the long lines. It went pretty fast. A little less than 30 mins. There's many booths inside. Easy to order & food is good. I ordered the basic noodle... first time! Wasn't sure how big was the portions. It's a good size! Soup base was very flavourful... maybe a little salty for me. Will return to try the additional toppings & the matcha dessert!

Absolutely horrible. WORST TAKEOUT IN HISTORY. Check your items when you are doing takeout. Missed half the items in my takeout order. I paid 60 dollars for something that should’ve cost 36. I don’t have my drinks. I don’t have my added toppings. I don’t have my extra noodles. Ichiran is just so overrated. Overpriced. And do not care at all for their customers.

Incredible ramen in a very personal and intimate setting as it is just you sitting in a singular cubicle to eat the ramen. They want you to focus on nothing else but the food and that is very easy to do when the food is this good!

Had Ichiran for the first time in Japan. Have missed it every day since. It tastes EXACTLY the same as what we had in Japan. I definitely expected the quality to dip, but by God these Americans can make a mean bowl of noodles. I am happy to know I no longer need to take a 10+ hour flight to Japan to get Ichiran. I now only need to take a short flight, or somewhat longer drive down to NYC. Worth it. The service was excellent and everyone was very polite and helpful. there was a line when we showed up, but we got in within about 20 minutes. Keep in mind we went on a Saturday night, so I can't say for sure if it's always that busy.

I went here for lunch today!! I have been to the Times Square location 3 times and I had something I needed to go to on 37th street and this was 6 blocks away!! I have said this in my other reviews but I am now legally a 16 year old!! I realized adulthood will be in my near future and so I will have a job and hopefully a girlfriend!! I was thinking about it and if my girlfriend ever breaks up with me I will go to this state park in Brooklyn afterwards so I would feel better!! I just realized today that if I ever get fired I will come here and get the most amazing ramen to drown my sorrows in!! This place always lifts my spirits and gets me in the best mood I can be in!! The ramen is the best in the entire city and it comes in a box!! The noodles and the egg are cooked perfectly and they only have one kind of ramen on the menu!! It is very very very good and so you should all come here!!

The ramen at Ichiran is the best I’ve had so far! You start out with a base ramen and then can add each item. It does get to be expensive. You can also select your level of saltiness and spice. They allow you to purchase additional noodles at a lower price however, if you would like the broth, you’ll pay the full price. The staff was friendly and helpful. The seating was different. We had a party of 4. Each of us were seated in our own cubby with a small partition between each cubby. In front of each cubby was a window with a bamboo blind. There’s a door bell on the table to ring for help. When a server arrived, he / she opened the blind, however, it was low and so all you saw were their chest and crotch. Water is self serve using a free standing water cooler in a central location. Overall, we enjoyed Ichiran!

Ichiran is a famous Ramon chain from Japan and in New York it does offer very delicious Ramen, same taste like in Japan. It also adopts similar system like in Japan, except you order through paper, not through a vending machine. Service is very fast and efficient, we eat in our own personal ‘booth’ but pricing is a lot more expensive than in Japan. If you like Ramen while in NY, this is a place to visit.

Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
