We truly enjoy Thai food and were looking for more than a hole in a wall place to dine while waiting to go to a show at MSG. Sarai is a must go to place! The whole dining experience was pleasant right from the beginning. The hostess was polite, our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable about the varied foods offered and the portions were generous and flavorful. We definitely will plan on going back to Sabai next time we are in the area. Great ambiance!

Went on Saturday evening (05/07/22) for 6:00 PM reservation. Seated within a few minutes and our waitress Alexa brought us menus and asked if we we wanted any water or to order drinks. We gave her our drink order and she said she will give us a few minutes to look over the menu. She came back after a few minutes to check on us to see if we had any questions. We placed our Appetizer and Dinner orders and after relaxing a short (10 minutes) time Appetizers came out and it was great. A little while (15 minutes?) after finishing our dinner came out. Dinner and was excellent! Decided to have some dessert and again great service and excellent dessert. I have to say it is a nice trendy looking place, nicely done and the service was a solid 5/5 stars. The food was all 5/5 stars! I highly recommend them and we will definitely be back again soon! If in the area or nearby you really have to try them out.

What is the perfect comfort food on a chilly, drizzly evening in Manhattan before seeing a show on Broadway? Thai curry!
Loved this upscale Thai restaurant on Park Avenue. Sabai means happy in Thai and this restaurant exudes happiness.
The interior transports you to Chiang Mai. Beautiful open interior and cozy outdoor seating. Love the wooden tables and ceiling and walls filled with flowers. The hanging heat lamps were perfect to take off the chill from the rain outside.
So lucky that we enjoyed a "private" dining experience at our early dining time without any other patrons in the outdoor seating. Loved chatting with our server, Nissagan, about his hometown of Phuket. Loved snorkeling and visiting the surrounding small islands near Phuket pre-pandemic.
Started with the homemade curry puffs. Potatoes, carrots and green peas in a roti canai pastry. Delicious way to begin the meal and large enough to share.
For curries, the Gan Kiew Waan (the green curry) was so delicious. Green curry, coconut milk, bamboo shoots, peppers, eggplant, and jalapeños was so comforting on a chilly night. The flavors in the Gan Panang Curry were perfect! The panang curry has coconut milk, string beans, kaffir lime leaves, and peppers. I added roasted duck and removed the jalapeños as their food is already spicy enough for my taste. The Khao Soi is filled with chicken, vegetables and egg noodles. Spicy and full of flavor.
Ended the meal with a pot of hot ginger tea. Thanks to Nissagan for transporting us back to Thailand before we headed to the lights of Broadway. Khoob-khun ka!

My friend and I came here for dinner to check out the authenticity. We sat outside due to nice weather, but the inside is excellent as well but a little darker. The outside seating area is beautifully decorated with a touch of garden look alike. The hostess was nice and friendly.
Noosh was our waitress. They wear a nice costume here, representing Thailand. My friend ordered Mango salad, and I ordered poh piah sod to start. Both were delicious. Then I ordered Chu Chi Red Snapper while my friend ordered two entrees. She had Gan Panang and Vegetarian Street Food. Her entree Gan Panang or Penang curry was superb! I preferred that better than my Snapper. I didn’t expect the snapper to be filet because Thai-style fish is usually served as a whole fish. However, the sauce served on top of the fish was delicious. The vegetarian street food was all right, nothing special. It was bland. My poh piah sod was better than my entree.
Overall experience was good, and the service was excellent, from the hostess to the waitress. We liked it here and would like to try another dish next time.

We were quickly sat at the bar by a great host. The service couldn’t have been better had we been at a table, and in fact we preferred the atmosphere at the bar.
The staff were attentive and gave great recommendations for food, which was absolutely delicious. All washed down with a great wine.
The menu was simple, but ample. The food was great and the service superb. A wonderful atmosphere and a place we would highly recommend and visit again.

The waitress was wonderful, very caring and attentive to our special requests. The atmosphere is subdued and pleasant, the bartender is a real artist. The menu offers a beautiful choice of Thai specialties and a selection of delicious desserts, like the fresh mango with coconut milk and sticky rice : amazing.

Dreadful manager. My main course of beef was tough and chewy. The server offered me the menu to re-order but after 10 minutes no food had arrived. I cancelled the order but was still charged for everything, The manager then stared me down as we left which I challenged.
What sort of manager wears a singlet and lets the server take the blame for his kitchen?
A pathetic example of a restaurant manager.

Beware, this is not an authentic Thai experience. Best to go with are the Curries. Panang was great and Green was good but had some funny ingredients in it like eggplant (no not small Thai eggplant). Satay came out cold and in big funny chunks, satay sauce was just based on peanut butter the traditional cucumber vinegar salad was missing. We ordered crab fried rice which did not just have crab meet mixed in the rice but had an entire crab as a surprise on top of it. The worst was the Tom Yum Goong, uncooked, missing lime, fish sauce and chilli and had a really awful taste. Prices definitely on the high side and not what we were expecting in a NYC restaurant. Would be a 3-4 star in a small rural town but not here and at this price point. We were asked for feedback and politely provided. Two dishes were taken off and they gave us a “traditional Thai” dessert on the house: Japanese Mochi 😂😂😂. Worst experience in NYC so far. Will not be back. If you end up going, stick with the curries.

The space is quite lovely, high ceilings, dark muted tones. It's very intimate. We were a table of five seated near the back. Service was very spotty. The staff seems really confused, frequently, bumping into each other. Water and drinks would go to four people with one person being forgotten for quite a while. The good news is the food is superb. I've never had Thai food quite like this, especially the appetizers and small plates. People were raving about the curry, especially.

We ate here twice during our recent trip to New York and both occasions we found a very warm welcoming from the staff, the service to be absolutely fantastic and most of all the food to be incredibly tasty. Next time we are in New York we will not hesitate to return to Sabai and would definitely recommend this to anyone who appreciates excellent Thai food. Thank you

This restaurant offers you tasty cuisine and a place to enjoy the intimate atmosphere. Gracious staff and efficient service. Of particular mention was their Sabai Sampler consisting of calamari, crispy spring rolls and chicken dumplings. My entree was just the right portion (not small, not overly large). The Massaman curry was spiced perfectly with onions, potatoes, peanuts and roti canai bread. Added beef and that protein completed my meal.

Nice meal, but not particularly authentic.
Starters were good, tasty if forgiving the calamari being a little overdone and under seasoned
Mains were mixed: pad Thai lacked depth of flavour and the green curry was nicely flavoured and well spiced, but far too sweet. Had to pour lemon into it to balance it up a bit
Nice ambience, good service

Very pretty decor and full bar. They changed the menu post-COVID and it seems more limited than before but the food was excellent. I had the fried spring rolls and the green curry with chicken. The curry had the perfect amount of heat. My friend had the Thai fried rice with chicken and really liked it. Highly recommend.
