We went for dinner. The good thing is that they were child friendly and very kind and courteous. I must admit though, for a family who regularly eats Indian food, this was disappointing. We ordered Chicken Samoosa, Mango Lassi and Saag Paneer to share. All the food was bland. The saag was pretty much boiled spinach. I can't say I... More

I ate here several times for lunch in 2016. Each time I had naan bread (sometimes garlic naan and sometimes onion naan), palaak paneer (spinach), basmati rice and a mango lassi. There is also a very good lunch buffet. The service is very good and the prices are midrange.

Took a half dozen colleagues here for a mid-week team dinner. Prompt service, good variety of dishes - not just typical local Indian - good prices for Midtown. Bathrooms could use some freshening up, otherwise solid place.

I have been coming to Darbar for many years and I’m always happy to return. What keeps me coming back is really the value for money – everything is so expensive in NY, that very often the only affordable lunch specials you can get are at a fast-food outlet. For almost the same price as fast food, you can get... More

Visited this place after a gap of several years for buffet lunch with some friends. Liked the quality of food. Real North Indian cuisine. I am vegetarian and very selective in praising food, but I really liked Palak-Paneer, Fresh Naan served on the table and starter. I would have liked better dessert than rice kheer. My friend who were non-veg... More

Visiting from the UK we were looking for somewhere to eat that was good quality and value for money. The meals were very tasty and well spiced. The korma was less sweet than we would have in the UK but was delicious. The service was efficient friendly and not over the top. Recommended.

Have been before but not in a few years. Was pleasantly surprised at the service which was much improved from the last Indian restaurant we visited closer to home. In fact here Rice is included as its should be, where as on east 58th street the Indian restaurants all charge for rice. Portions are for sharing and we were very... More

Lunch buffet it was ok, nothing outstanding. Tandoori chicken average, chicken tikka masala was slightly below average, goat was pretty good, naan was good. All else was so-so. Service was meh. Tables crowded with local middle management types lunching between meetings. Reminded me a a TGIF Friday's, only Indian.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
