Found The Viand on Maps and decided to stop for breakfast before going to The Met. The option for Gluten Free toast led quickly to orders for Eggs Benedict on gluten free toast. Wow! The main dish was delicious and the hash browns and onions...that accompanied it were perfect. We enjoyed breakfast so much that we came back the next day for a repeat!More

We were riding bikes in the park and got hungry. We came down 85 st. My old stomping ground. I thought there would be somewhere to eat in this area. Much to my surprise, there are a few places to eat. We chose this one....And what a great choice it was. We had to wait 15-20 mins. The area was full of people. I asked the hostess if she could seat us outside where we could watch our bikes. She said sure. We finally got an excellent table near the bikes, on the corner. We spoke to a few passerby and people waiting for a table. We ordered a hamburger and gyro. We also ordered onion rings and French fries with our meals. The orders came out quick. They looked fantastic. Both were big plates of food. The onion rings and fries were some of the best we have ever had. Real crunchy and not greasy at all. The hamburger was as ordered. Full of flavor and nicely prepared. The gyro was a ton of meat, platter style. If was also nicely prepared and flavorful. People passing by were in awe of our meal. This place rocks. I'm so glad that we stumbled across this little gem on the upper west side. It did not disappoint. The staff was awesome and the food was great. Thank you. I highly recommend them.More

I'm sick, not Covid, but a bad cold, chills, fever, you know, the things associated with living in New York City in January and eating in outdoor Tents for the past 6 months. I just wanted a grilled cheese, some soup and a big piece...of something Chocolate. In 15 minutes from the time I ordered it to the time it arrived at my door and the doorman put it on the elevator and sent it up to my floor, I had everything I needed to feel better and gain an appreciation for a local business striving to make it's local's feel a restaurant has their back. The Viand's matzah ball soup is spectacular. The grilled cheese brilliant and the chocolate moose cake outstanding. The reviews I 've read say that the fresh turkey is definitely worth trying. Thank you Viand and because of what you did for me tonight you've earned my loyalty for life. Delicious food, unbelievable quick delivery time.More

It's not always easy to find a place in NYC where you can have good healthy food, when compared to Europe or NZ/Aus. But at Viand, there was plenty of choice, although the portions remained US of big ;). Great salads and burgers, made and...served with good old fashioned TLC.More

Having been back in nyc for a while has its perks: a neighborhood restaurant / coffee shop in the old New York style: think perfect grilled cheese for lunch, a great BLT, good ice coffee- perfect also for a picnic in Central Park with a...blanket and bottle of ice tea- I’m set. Or as I did the other night- after weeks of doing the cooking- I tried a great chicken breast in oregano spices, served with a delightful couscous and cauliflower, Oh we are lucky in NYC with the restaurants that do delivery!More

The breakfast was great and the service amazing. The atmosphere was calm. French Toast was the best. Very moist and seasoned.

I visited this place its first week, at least a year ago, and thought it wasn't fair to review it then. But I just made a return trip and can report it is equally awful. Oh,for the Greek coffee shops of our youth, where the...cooks were virtuosos of eggs and breakfast in general. Here, they have no idea of how to cook an egg over-medium, and the sides are dreadful. Plus, it's almost twice as expensive as it has any right to be. It's a confused mix of coffee shop and a real restaurant. Guess that's what high real estate prices have brought us to. At any rate, no need for me to return.More

My daughters and I have been to NYC two years in a row and both times we have had breakfast at the Viand because it is delicious! We have only had breakfast there. Eggs, pancakes, french toast, cappuccinos...it is all wonderful. If you are in...the area, stop in and enjoy!More

The time I went there for dinner - the service was incredibly slow. I chose simple foods: soup and a hamburger . Both were of very poor quality, to the point where I took a bite of the hamburger and a taste of the soup,...found them both disagreeable, and left the place, to go somewhere else.More

So, there's a real attachment to Dr Suess in our family, and Green Eggs and Ham is a favorite story. At Viand it's a favorite dish. Excellently prepared and attractively plated it was a great choice for brunch. We had no problems with substituting fruit...for potatoes. We had a hungry little kid along and staff was very quick to bring a fruit bowl. Everyone was very helpful, friendly and efficient. We'll be back.More

Was told about this diner on Columbus by a local. Dropped in for a late lunch and had nice outdoor seating. Started with the Greek Lemon Soup. Was delicious. Had the pesto chicken panini and the mediterranean chicken salad. Both excellent. Service was very good....Highly recommend.More

Quality food. Enjoyed our meal. Wasn’t amazing, but definitely delicious. I’d return and would tell Others to try it out. BIG portions... feel free to share if you aren’t starving. Very good chicken apple sausage.

Amazing Reuben sandwich which they were able to make on Gluten Free Bread. Experienced no illness from it. Was an incredible amount of food and was absolutely lovely. Coffee regularly topped up and friendly service. 1 star knocked off because when we went back for...pancakes and French toast a day later it wasn't quite the same experience. The pancakes were a bit bland. Would definitely go back for another sandwich though and the omlettes other people had looked amazing.More
