No wait to get a table which is nice but seemingly indicative of the experience to come. It is so dark here tha t we had to use cell phone lights to read the menu. The decor is painted brick with very small art work and nothing visually stimulating. The staff is very nice and the highlight of the meal.... More

We were looking for a dinner spot "away from the bustle" and tried this because they had "Fish Parcel" (essentially fish and chips) which worked for our picky teenage eater (except of the calamari thrown in which I ate). My husband and I each had a curry (his was salmon with roti and mine was chicken with naan. Both were... More

Met up with my family and out of the country cousins who were in NYC. Wanted something unusual and had a wonderful meal. The food was different. If you haven't had South African food it includes unique meats like Ostrich, unique sauces like Peri-Peri, alot of seafood and an indian influence. We had a feast. It was relatively quiet and... Although I couldn't identify what made South African cuisine unique it was yummy.. The ostrich sliders were dense and dry but the ostrich steak was tender and delicious. My husband's duck was cooked perfectly. The peri peri sauce was delicious too. We were there for a birthday and they provided a great firework like candle and played some upbeat music... More

Staff were more interested in their cellphones than the customers. Too loud music. Cold coffee, you even have to ask for milk for your coffee. Would not recommend.

The menu was interesting and the food was very tasty. Recommend the ostrich as well as their Braai burger sliders. The seating area can be a bit tight but then that can be the case with many NY restaurants. But the atmosphere is pleasant and its great to try different foods from around the world without having to travel so... More

This is about as bad as it gets. A pseudo Saffer restaurant that perpetuates the most insulting fraud on South African cuisine. For one, there is not a South African in sight. Two, and the food has only a remote resemblance to its South African roots. And three our selection of Bobotie from the menu was greeted with an embarrassed... More

Try the South African wine and the "local" South African starters as a kind of shareable. I would have given a 5 but the service was average and with very little interaction. The octopus and ostrich sliders are good.

Braai was highly recommended to us by family members and it lived up to expectations. It's a small, tastefully decorated restaurant that features South African food and wines. My husband and I both had the special grilled ostrich recommended by our waiter. He told us that ostrich tastes just like filet mignon which was a very accurate description. It was... More

We had an early reservation after seeing an amazing Broadway show. We were hungry and ready to explore a new restaurant in the Theatre District. I chose this because I never have had South African Food before. We have had Ethiopian Food but this was going to be interesting!! The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived (5:30pm) and it... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
