We were a party of 8 including vegetarians and came to this restaurant for a special occasion. We had a large round table with comfortable chairs. All of the 6 appetizers and 5 entrees were great. We sampled the chicken, vegetable and shrimp/pork/leek dumplings — delicious. Even better was the the leek turnover, a thin pocket filled with leek and eggs. The main dishes of cumin lamb, poached fish, pea sprouts, a dish of mixed vegetables and seafood plus a dish of bean sprouts, wooden ear mushrooms were all excellent. The restaurant specializes in the cooking of northeastern China so the flavorings are slightly different from the more common Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghai or Cantonese restaurants. They are spicy and sour, too, but more hearty. Wheat/flour products are more common than rice.

This is a stunning find in the middle of 14th St. and Manhattan. The food is extremely diverse and amazing. This is the third time eating here and each time has been better than the last. Do not let the location for you. It is a pleasure to come here and hear primarily Chinese at times. This restaurant is supported by the Chinese community. It is important that other supported as well as the food is soup herb. I have been to China and this is absolutely the highest level of Chinese food. Fresh perfectly cooked tasty.

Consistently good food here. The lunch special is a great buy. Never had a bad meal and I go here often for a quick lunch. Ambience is nothing fancy. Service is friendly enough but focuses on fast and functional. Definitely recommend.

This was a totally unexpected FIND. The food that we had was stunningly good for a Chinese restaurant. Basically in the middle of nowhere on 14th St. Everything that came out was super Herb. I look forward to hearing other reviews. This is a restaurant I plan to come back to.

Came here with a friend to have some dumplings. We had ones with Chinese pickles and I did like it. Service is a bit bizzare. I asked about the portion of certain dishes and the waitress seemed not want to answer that.

I was here for lunch and had sesame chicken from the lunch special menu for $9.49. Rice and either soup or spring roll was included (I had a spring roll). I added a ginger ale for $1.50. All of the food was good, although from what I saw on the tables of other customers, I suspect that Auntie Guan's more authentic Chinese dishes are better. Portions were generous for a lunch special. The interior is a bit tired. They have fish tanks to the side in the middle of the restaurant and thick nautical rope hanging from the ceiling.

This is a large enough restaurant on W 14th St with plenty of wait staff. The entree I wanted (chicken w/snow peas) wasn't on the menu, so I ordered Chicken w/Mixed vegetable & brown rice, which had a few snow peas. It was satisfactory but had more broccoli than I would like (not their fault). Service was good. The only problem I noticed was in the unisex bathroom which contained a toilet and a urinal, both in an open area. The urinal would not flush, so the sight of yellow water was a bit unsightly.

As a late lunch, I've ordered "Braised Chicken Noodle Soup" and "Steamed Chinese Cabbage Dumpling w. Pork". It turned out that the noodle soup tasted great but the dumpling (which came first actually) wasn't that spectacular. I should have probably just ordered the noodle soup. This Chinese name of this restaurant is like "Liao Ning Restaurant" where Liao Ning is a province in North-Eastern China. This probably give you a hint as to what kind of Chinese food this restaurant is for. Some servants looked nicer than the others.
