Location and contact

Opened in 2017, The Spaniard is a West Village bar serving fine food, strong drinks and plentiful whiskey, inspired by classic New York bars like Keens, Old Town Bar and PJ Clarke's -- spots that marry a timeless vibe and old school service. The bar's spirits list features 100 whiskies, over half of them Scotch, sourced from around the world, and Chef PJ Calapa's excellent bar food is the perfect accompaniment to the many, and varied, creative cocktails. The New York Times calls it a bar with "serious food," and New York Magazine lauds the bar's patty melt and "well-curated house selection of more than 100 whiskeys" in its "Where to Eat 2018" feature. We went there for drinks and they were able to make our special requests with no problem. They had a huge list of whiskeys from around the world. Service was friendly and quick.

So basic it is extra. The only reason to go here is to see how truly awful a hostess can be. We walk in to a mostly empty bar and every table says "see hostess". we tell her we have 4 people and she, without...More

This place is pretentious, snob and overpriced. The hosts are snob and it is not worthy to spend a dollar in this place. Avoid at all costs, specially because you will find so much nicer places in the neighborhood!

Visited here in Feb 19. A cool pub set in the great area of west village NYC. The food was ok (typical fries and onion rings) and the drinks were more commercial rather than specialist craft beers. Depending on what your thing is - would...More

Drinks excellent. Service excellent. Best burger of my life. We stumbled across this on our visit from London and it was the best find of our trip. Burgers are incredible. Visit this place

Friends who live locally took us here for a dinner with a group of 10. The food was modern and served promptly, and the waiting staff were alert and friendly. It is a busy and noisy place, so don't expect romance, but certainly fun.

I recently hosted a party at The Spainard and the staff was extremely hospitable. From the beginning planning menus to the bartender and manager on-staff, everyone was extremely helpful and nice. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed and I would recommend to all!

Enjoyed this place, few beers in a pleasant setting. Busy enough to have atmosphere, but not too busy. Wine and beer selection was good.

West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted
addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and
cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you
