The Caesar salad was simple and amazing! We ordered 3 different pasta dishes to share and it would be hard to pick a favorite. The fresh pasta made all the difference. It was incredible! Desserts were a delicious ending - affogato and chocolate mousse were perfection. Our best meal out of many in NYC!

We walked into Salumerio Rosi just by chance and are now unconditional fans. Greeted and seated by the young owner Andrew Lascalzo (I so hope I spelled that right) we were immediately impressed by the quality, originality and freshness of the products in the cases and the artistic presentation of the meals served around us. We live in Europe and immediately recognized the authenticity, respect and even love of tradition and fine ingredients so evident everywhere in this restaurant. The service was attentive and the food was crafted, that’s the word. I probably have never had better olives- the secret? Ask Andrew. I would return in a heartbeat. There was fresh rosemary tucked into each linen napkin. I chose seared scallops that were so fresh they were almost sweet. We had ricotta cheesecake with whipped cream and a latte afterwards- REAL coffee, I might add !. Delicate and delicious flavors with every course. It would have been obscene to return for dinner... but I was tempted.

Popped in here as a last minute decision on the recommendation of a friend and thankfully they managed to find us a table after about 15 minutes. We went as a family and had a wonderful meal. For starters we shared the Coppa e Burrata and a plate of cured meats. Both were delicious and were sufficient to keep a carnivorous teenager happy. For mains my partner and I both had the gnocchi. This was quite simply the best gnocchi we had ever had. They make it with ricotta instead of potatoes which makes the “pillows” wonderfully light and soft. The sauce was a simple but beautiful combination of tomatoes and basil. The Vermentino 2017 was excellent as a smooth and not over powering accompaniment. Outstanding and all very reasonably priced for NYC. Make sure you book to avoid being disappointed.

This has been a good restaurant for the dine-in experience, but even giving the benefit of the doubt for the pandemic, the food I picked up was very mediocre and overpriced. The salad was absolutely basic, just lettuce and olive oil. The soups both were mediocre as was the main pasta with meat dish. Regarding the vegetarian dishes, the eggplant had way way too much oil, while the cauliflower was good.
For desert, the sorbet was OK, but the apple pie with cream was very good.
All in all, paid way too much money for what we got both in terms of volume and quality. As I remember, the dine-in experience was a good deal better, in the past.

Used to be our go to place for salumi - love the selection as well as accoutrements including olives, anchovies, etc. We were in the city on Saturday and popped in and were horrified to what extent the quality has gone down while the prices have gone up. The finocchiona we got was really good, albeit expensive, the prosciutto (san daniele) was ok, nothing wrong with it, and the porchetta was decent. The cotto was fine, but we couldn't believe it was $36/lb. Further, we ordered at the counter and were told to come back to save time and be pandemic-safe (which is great), but were shocked to learn that the extremely small order or fagioli gigante (wax beans) was $9! Look, I'm happy to spend money on food, but the quality has gone down while the prices have gone way up. I get it that the pandemic has taken a toll, but this place is taking some liberties with the pricing.
Please view this as your warning - the food is decent, but definitely not worth the price. You'd be way better off going to Eataly as the selection, quality, and value are all far superior.

Salumeria Rossi is a nice upper west side Italian spot with a congenial, personable host and attentive staff that offers top notch charcuterie a precise but not extensive wine list and Italian standards that are generally good but not so overwhelming. My minestrone soup was great , my partners lasagna good and my orecchiette broccoli rabe and sausage was delectable but by all the reviews I have to say I was expecting to be overwhelmed . I’ll certainly return when I’m in the neighborhood and understand it’s NYC but for a big guy like me the tight quarters did not enhance my dining experience , having been to IL Mulino and others I do know tight quarters.

Four of us sat outside, where it was very hot, but we consoled ourselves with the specialty drinks from the menu. Lasagne, watermelon salad, meatballs, and a pasta dish were ‘way above similar offerings at other restaurants, and our server was very attentive.. Pricey, but isn’t it everywhere? A+

After a 15 month COVID hiatus, finally back in the big Apple. Ventured to this delightful Italian restaurant the Upper West Side. As most New York restaurants there is now expanded outdoor seating. But we sat inside and there were plexiglass dividers between tables. The waitress (Ar) was the perfect mix of attentiveness and humor. We shared the Roasted Peppers with white anchovies over arugula starter. Unlike some places where the white anchovies are cloyingly sweet, these were perfect. My table mate had the Gnocchi which had the perfect texture. As was the impeccable flavors of my Cavatelli al Pesto. Nice selection of wines by the glass as well. Overall a wonderful dining experience. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available.

As a person with severe food allergies I asked the waitress ( future Broadway star???) what was in a dish. She said nothing, but the main ingredients. That was after I said I was cold and she suggested I go somewhere else. I tasted the food which definitely had several ingredients that I am allergic too. I told her. She didn’t care. Manager apologized. She looked on with a ‘bemused smile.’ At these prices, you can find hundreds of restaurants that will respect u- (at least until they hire people who don’t risk the health of their customers!

Very very disappointed with service. After being seated after 15 minutes we were given bread and water. We waited for another1/2 hour and the waitress did not show up, so I approached a gentleman standing at the desk and told him that we were wanted to order but the waitress did not come by.
He took our order, but one meal did not come because of a mistake. The 3 of us ate while my son’s meal came after we had eaten. We shared our dishes with him. At the end of this meal, the waitress appeared and apologized.
She gave the four of us one chocolate mousse!
It was the worst service I have encountered in any restaurant in the city.
This is a reliably good restaurant that I have been to many times and I could not understand the awful service.
Everyone there seemed confused. I will go again as I hope this was just a bad night.

Our favorite parts of the meal were the salumi and pasta. Coming from the Midwest, you noticed more intense flavor in the salumi along with the texture of a time intensive process. Their pastas are well made and the menu is diverse. I personally would recommend going here for a snack and enjoy their main product. Our server was ok and unfortunately due to Covid the table we had was uncomfortable, but I can't fault the place too much since they were doing the best they could. We had to sit inside due to the weather so maybe investing in the outdoor seating area would be beneficial.

I normally don’t publish negative reviews, particularly about my favorite places. Today, however, I made a decision to publish this review because of my extremely bad experience during what was supposed to be a festive Easter lunch with my child.
All was well at the beginning, the food great as usual, service decent, till a couple of the chef’s friends showed up. They were seated between our table and the window. They were very loud, rowdy, completely disrespectful even though they clearly saw they made my son and me very uncomfortable. When the woman started telling one of her stories loudly shrieking and waving her arms, I very politely asked her if she could be a bit more quiet. Instead of apologizing she aggressively verbally attacked me and even resorted to threats, saying that I would regret if she “takes it to another level”. She basically threatened to beat me up! All that in front of my son. I quickly told my son to leave as not to have him traumatized more, and called the manager. You would think that a restaurant would kick the rowdy couple out, but no! They were the friends of the chef!
The lunch was ruined. The woman reduced me to tears. I would never come there again, simply because this behavior was allowed by the management because they were friends of the chef. I don’t know what might happen id and when the chef decides to host another pair of his tracksuit-clad, neck-tattooed buddies who might take over the restaurant and threaten to hurt you.
Told the story to all my local friends. We are not going to patronize this place anymore.
I have been a patron for 14 years and loved each and every time till today. Imagine how bad the things were today if I and my friends decided not to patronize this place ever again

Really nice vibe going on. Not cheap but my husband enjoyed dinner. Unfortunately, there was very little without meat and cheese, so I really couldn’t eat. I do believe a chef who wanted to could create some nice choices for vegans.

You do not want to miss dinner here. The food is authentic - the pesto cavatelli was so good I was sorry I ordered the small portion. The service is very friendly. And definitely sit outside if you can since the people watching is entertaining. Definitely recommend this restaurant - but make sure you have reservations so you won't be disappointed.

This was my second visit to this marvelous, authentic little Italian eatery, and I enjoyed it even more than the first time.
My first exposure included sidewalk dining, pre-Covid, with just a simple platter of meats and cheeses, and freshly baked bread with of course fine wine on the side. A late night snack, quick, but impressive.
This return saw a full sit down meal included, just as memorable. We started with meats and cheeses with bread as the venue also sells these items to go and for which this location is known. Just as I remembered, everything was fresh, well-made, and much appreciated. My daughter dined on the Bucatini with the Pomodoro sauce— She devoured it happily giving it two thumbs up. I tried their version of lasagna, which was heavier on the meat and cheese than the pasta, which, in my opinion was just marvelous. The last member of our party opted for the veal Milanese, giving it equally high marks for flavor and freshness.
If we hadn’t had partaken so eagerly of the pre-meal fresh Italian bread, focaccia, and olive oil for dipping or the perfectly balanced Caprese salad we may have had room for dessert, but alas…
A treasure worth rediscovering and just around the corner from the Beacon theater and hotel.
High praise for the extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and personally engaging waiter that helped direct our meal, answered all of our questions and added to the lively conversation.
