Dinner at Sahib was solid. Service is a little lacking, but the goat curries and lamb curries were delicious, and the naan and other bread varieties were winners.

Inexpensive and very delicious lunch buffet. Been there many times as well as other local Indian restaurants in the neighborhood - this is easily my favorite. The food is consistently delicious. Offered dishes change every visit but they’re always fresh and excellent.
My grown nephew and I had the buffet lunch today at this Curry Hill storefront restaurant. Unfortunately, we arrived at about 2:15 and the buffet is only served until 2:45, so not only did we feel rushed, but some of the dishes were quite dried...out after having been out in the chafing dishes for a couple of hours. This was not the restaurant's fault, I know. We ate as much as we could in the remaining half hour of the chicken, goat, lamb and fish dishes, plus several vegetarian options and breads. The service was good. The interior of the restaurant could use a make-over. With all the Indian eateries in that neighborhood I doubt that I would return to Sahib--I'd rather try a different restaurant if I were to go back to Curry Hill again. With tip and tax the bill came to $33 for the two of us.More
Had a good lunch here on curry hill ...curry good ! Big portions of course .......no idea what the standard is in New York ...
Came with high expectations due to raving reviews! Food was tasty and fresh! Recommended dish: fish curry! Varieties OK but the curry dishes taste pretty much similar! I guess the dishes are being localized! The service was efficient but in no way hospitable! I went...away with $17.5 inclusive tax and tips! Not bad for a lunch buffet! Full but not feeling most satisfied. I have yet to try out several other joints in curry hill with same price range before deciding if Sahib is my favorite ‘Indian buffet’ in nyc!More
Fabulous place. I live nearby in the Flatiron area, and have tried a lot of Indian restaurants. This is easily one of the very best I've been to in NY. I arranged a holiday feast for 10 people here a few days ago and the...manager was extraordinarily helpful, making us feel welcome, helping us choose what to order, etc. The food is just incredibly good, as the Times review had suggested. (Pete Wells called their Chicken Biryani the best in the city in a rave review.) Atmosphere is lovely and the service is as well. Prices are remarkably reasonable given the quality of the food. Highly recommended on all fronts!More
Ample dishes, veg & non veg in lunch buffet only, reasonably priced and they serve live bbq on table also. Tasty food from salads to desserts.
Great food and attentive service .. Very nice atmosphere.. saag paneer and lemon rice and lamb curry where all superb and alittle different than usual ..
Your food is good, but you need to wash the drapes that lead to the bathrooms...they smell terrible and almost made me throw up while I was eating. I suspect they are not washed frequently. Please wash them
We recently visited this place for a Naboborsho ( Bengali/Indian New Year) dinner as the place had a few “Bengali” dishes on the menu and boy do we regret it. The food was bland and boring even though we had specifically requested it to be...made spicy. The “kosha mangsho” was more like “shukno mangsho”, the blandest I’ve ever tasted and the “dum olav” equally bad. The biryani and shorshe chingri also lacked flavor. Chhote Nawab across the street is a better option.More
I went to Sahib for the first time with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday on Saturday, March 24th. The food was excellent. However, in the process of serving some of the appetizers a waiter a small metal container of a coconut chutney...slipped off his tray an landed on my suit jacket and winter coat. Some of it also splattered onto the coat of a friend seated next to me. The waiter gave us a napkin and then disappeared leaving us to try to clean up the mess on our clothing. Some of also got of the floor. After about 10 minutes of us asking for napkins and wiping up some of the chutney off of our clothing we finally insisted they at least clean the floor. I asked that part of the bill be reduced, however nothing was reduced on the bill. The coat of my friend needs dry cleaning and my jacket and coat required spending time soaking and washing in part by hand and in the washing machine. That took several hours of my time yesterday. Although the food was good, I probably will not go back due the poor customer service and attention they offered. By the way, our party spent plenty of money on the food and drinks for the meal (and tip).More
I guess the good reviews are due to the low cost lunch buffet. Ordered dinner take out and the food was BAD. They cannot do basics like cauliflower and lentils correctly. Cauliflower was runny and tasteless. Lentils and meat curries were lackluster. I am not...sure why these places are popular with such cramped seating and low quality food. We are not going there again, nothing special about these restaurants owned by the same management.More
This place a great discovery, we were in the neighborhood and decided to try this place. The food was really good here, we tried the Gilawati Kebab, Murgh Malai Kebab, Kosha Mangsho and everything was delicious. I highly recommend this place.
I visited Sahib yesterday with my sister and the food was excellent. I had the buffet and it was some of the best Indian food I ever had. The servers even gave his chicken legs that was a little spicy and some rice puffy dish...that had a nice crunch to it. I loved the spinach paneer curry dish and some kind mixed vegetable dish the best. I am not vegetarian, but if I was I would be eating a lot of Indian vegetable dishes. The servers was very attentive and kept topping off our drinks and gave us naan when I asked for it. I would definitely go back again whenever I crave great Indian food. The Lunch buffet of 14 dollars is a great deal! AlbertMore
We visited on the recommendation of one of my son's best friends. Located right in Murray (Curry) Hill, it took a bit of time to find. Smaller than I expected. The menu was interesting and we ordered chicken wings, chicken tikka and shrimp for appetizers....Main course was goat curry (with bones); chicken tikka, biryani, and lamb chops.Seved also with naan. An interesting glass of what tasted like dal before our meal. All of the food was very good but I wouldn't judge it exceptional. Service was decent on a busy night. Glad we tried somewhere new on a family night out.More
