2nd time here couple nights ago with cold weather. This time, I found out that they have expanded the restaurant. Therefore, it's easier to make reservation. Always love their Hotpot, Services and Dessert. Oh! And the Green Tea Tofu for dessert is a must try! Always make reservation.

This is the best hotpot in town. If I could, I would eat here every day. I recommend getting Hakata Tonton hotpot, it was just amazing. And don't forget to try the black sesame ice cream. It is something you will not find in many places.

Japanese Female stuff is very very rude. Food is good and I love it but I almost don't wanna go back considering how rude she was. Attitude just really sucked and you could feel her bad mood all the way..... Check was wrong! Please double check your check! I was charged for something we did not even order!!! When I... More

The foie gras roll is one of the best things I've eaten recently. Everything is delicious and amazing.

Ate with family member while visiting NYC during Memorial weekend. Dishes they serve are authentic Japanese dishes. I had whelk sashimi and kamachi sashimi - both dishes are amazing, very flavorable. Also had pig feet, garlic rice, soba creme brulee, sesame seed ice cream, and green tea tofu - all very good. I definitely will go back again to try... More

I'm a fan. I love that there's a Japanese restaurant here that doesn't specialize in sushi, ramen, udon/soba, or yakitori. Hakata Tonton's claim to fame is how they embed tonsoku (pigs feet) into their dishes. Don't be grossed out, because tonsoku is actually quite delicious. Aside from straight up tonsoku dishes, the tonsoku-stuffed gyoza and the tonsoku-based broth of their... More

I lived in Japan for more than 7 years and I will say the hot pot in this restaurant tasted like the real thing in Japan. Hakata is a city in Fukuoka, famous for it's pork soup (in hotpot, Ramen, etc) and I wasn't disappointed at all.

After all the hype we managed to get a reservation here. Signature pigs feet was a bit smelly and gamey, Hotpot was great but not much meat with some random pig parts, foie gras sushi was the size of a 5 cent coin sitting on a bed of tofu rice

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
