We had eagerly planned a trip to Barcade while in New York. Beer and vintage arcade machines, what’s not to like! After walking 30 mins from our hotel especially to visit we were greeted by the doorman/security hunched over a chair in the doorway looking...at his phone. “ID” he said without looking up from his phone. At this point we realised one of our group had no ID and began to apologise. “Need ID” - doorman still hasn’t looked up from typing on his phone. We turned and left, he still didn’t look up from his phone. Had he, at any point, have bothered to look at us he would have realised he probably didn’t need ID, everyone in our party was late forties! I appreciate the need to check for under age drinking but this was stupid. Dejected, we walked up 7th Ave and spent a fantastic evening drinking in Yard House. The warm, enthusiastic greeting we received there could not have been more different to Barcade.More

It used to be the to go bar after work during pre covid with friends and coworkers. Sadly after tonight’s incident about proof of covid vaccination check at door has totally ruined the evening, we were so disappointed. Not because we didn’t provide a valid...vaccination proof, it was because the establishment rejected the following: 1. The NYC Health certified NYC COVID Safe App with official immunization record and photo ID were not good enough to enter the bar. 2. IDNYC, ID card issued by New York City were not good enough to use as ID. I mean, seriously? This is not the first time we’re showing immunization record and photo ID through COVID Sade App or with IDNYC ID card. We never had issue entering all bars and restaurants that we’ve been to so far, why here at Barcade? Regardless of what the reasons were, we’re not going back to this bar again. In fact, there are many bars around the neighborhood like Oscar Wilde or Eataly rooftop bar that accept NYC COVID Safe App and IDNYC, ID card.More

I loved the combination of bar and retro arcade. The video game and pinball machines were traditional classics and in good condition. The bar is not over-full with machines and not occupied by gamers. It is just a nice laid back reminiscent experience.

We learned of this retro bar the last time in NYC and made sure to visit them on this trip. It was so much fun! The Craft Beets are plentiful, the food was fabulous, the bartenders are comedians and the games make you remember the...good old days of playing video games with your friends. At $.25 per game, it’s a bargain!!! Get thee to the Barcade when in NYC.More

came here with a friend and there was a wide range of drinks available and also may games and a few arcade ones ( see photos), there were a few lesser known ones but many at a reasonable price of 25 cents. I also played...pong and tried a multi nintendo game one, which was 25 cents for a certain amount of time or 0 cents for slightly more than double that time, game over when the time ends ( this included mario 1 ? , mike tysons knockout , castlevania and more), shame this was time restricted. there also a hologram game which talked to you but I couldn't hear what was being said due to the noise of the bar and other machines Shame some of the lesser known retro games but there a turtles fighting game and a golden axe two?, crazy taxi and more it's well worth a visitMore

I love Tetris so while in NYC we decided to go to Barcade. We knew exactly what we were getting into - that it would be busy and games would likely be swamped. It was both of those things - but we found most people...were really respectful about 'lines". We were more, shall I say, "seasoned" than the other people there but didn't feel odd. It was great. I wouldn't go again while in NYC, but glad we went this one time. Oh, and I did get to play tetris!More

What a truly wonderful bar this is. Offering something totally different in the form of old computer arcade machines! All the classics are here, Golden Axe, Mortal Combat, Crazy Taxi, Turtles, Daytona Racing just to name a few. I believe there are over 60 to...play. Most games are as little as 25 cents per play so in contrast to general New York prices this can be quite a cheap activity. The flip side though is drinks prices, they are not the cheapest! However a selection of around 18 draft beers leave something for every tastebud. Be warned though, this place gets packed out despite being quite a large venue. Obviously this is due to its sheer popularity and its offering of a different kind of bar environment. Nobody should visit New York without trying this place out especially if you love beer and games.More

The barcade is filled with arcade games and pinball from the seventies and up. You can also order drinks and food while you enjoy inexepensive games. Although the games use tokens most are a quarter or fifty cents to play. German pretzel we ordered was...huge. Sevice was super friendly, too.More

Not only do they have the expected classics such TMNT, PacMan, and Galaga, they even had Q*bert which I used to play on my dad's ColecoVision! There's also various pin ball, a magnetic version of pong that was really interesting looking, and of course a...full bar. Games are one or two tokens each and you get A LOT for $20, so I ended up giving a bunch away to strangers because we had to go. Will definitely come back when I'm in NYC again.More

We visited this Barcade and the one in Brooklyn and both were brilliant. My boyfriend found his nirvana playing Lunar Lander, and I spent most of time annihilating pedestrians on Crazy Taxi. Coupled with happy hour beer, it was a great experience.

The only reason I can’t give a solid 5 stars is that it does tend to get a bit too crowded at times, which is totally not their fault. Love this place. Games are good, food is solid, beer is great, staff is phenomenal. Staff...really make the place; they def seem to try and get to know the regulars. Dave in particular is great. Craft brew and pinball, what’s not to love?!More
