Normally, I order from Chef Yu on 36th Street for takeout/delivery chinese food in my hood. But on one occasion, something was on the fritz with Chef Yu, so I tried Ginger. I was pretty satisfied with the Chinese food staples we ordered from there - Prawns with Lobster Sauce and that kind of thing.

The service was fast, unfriendly, all business - get you in and out. Food was ok....I ordered Spicy Basil Chicken and it was more like chicken stirred up with lettuce/cabbage or something of the sort. Bland...not spicy and did not find too much basil in it. Luckily we ordered dumplings to start our meal and they were pretty good, but... More

Went here for dinner while in the city. Nothing to rush to. Happy hour drinks were watered down and martini was served in a wine glass. Curry was in t he fried rice. Gross.

Had lunch at Ginger's.....the food was very tasty Chinese food with an assortment of spicy and not spicy dishes. The hot and sour soup was very good. Prices are moderate (for lunch or dinner)

The restaurant is attractive and it appears rather busy, even on a Wednesday evening. The noodles seem fresh and they are cooked nice and Al Dente. Additionally, for a mid-town restaurant, the prices were quite reasonable; maybe even cheap. That's about all of the good that I can say about this place. I ordered the cold sesame noodles as an... This nondescript but fairly large restaurant is in that no-go unless desperate Penn Station vicinity restaurants zone. But get past the store-front appearance and you will find efficient (not friendly but business like and polite) service and a vast menu of very fresh and delicious Chinese food of many regions in China that is also relatively expensive. Don't expect frills--like... More

My husband and I had dinner here before going to the theatre. We were seated promptly and enjoyed a cocktail before ordering. Ginger's has a happy hour everyday from 4-8 with a wide variety of choices. Our soup and entree's were delicious and plentiful. I wish I could have taken what I couldn't finish. We would definitely return to try... More

The first thing that attracted us to this restaurant was that it was full and lively, so we thought that was a good sign, and it was. We had only to wait for a couple of minutes for a table. The food is simple, straightforward Chinese, with a few dishes I hadn't come across in UK. When it came, the... More

Let me first start off by saying that I've been spoiled by good inexpensive Chinese food from Chinatown and Flushing so my review may be a bit biased. I came here for a birthday dinner with 20+ people. The group had an hour wait time to get a table big enough for all of us, not a huge deal cause... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
